From io9:
What do you think will come after Nolan's last Batman film?

From IGN:
Where Should Batman Go When Nolan Leaves?
As eager as we are to see The Dark Knight Rises, we know that when that day comes, it's gonna be bittersweet. It will be bittersweet because that movie will mark the last time Chris Nolan directs a Batman film.

That sound you hear are fanboys everywhere taking a collective puff on their inhalers, preparing for a day when the world will still need Batman, but Nolan may not. What Nolan and his filmmaking team did with Gotham's Dark Knight changed things - forever. The filmmaker took his inspired story sense that made Memento and Insomnia work, applied it to the DC Universe, and elevated the comic book movie to the type of thing that earns Oscar nominations and wins. Batman Begins' tested the "reboot" waters and now that movie's model is one we've seen applied to other reboots, such as James Bond's Casino Royale. The Dark Knight spoiled us on what a great movie can be and changed the way Hollywood makes sequels.
From Bloomberg Businessweek:
After Harry Potter, Warner Seeks a New Hero

Michael White said:
"We're doing our best to get the DC properties lined up like airplanes taking off from the runway," Horn says. Several projects based on DC Comics *superheroes are under way.

In June 2011, Warner will release its Green Lantern movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a test pilot with superpowers. The studio is also developing a Superman film, more Batman installments, and movies based on vintage action heroes Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Arrow, and Aquaman, Horn says.

From Variety:
Warner Bros. promotes Amit Desai to DC post - Studio vet named senior VP of franchise mgmt.
Dave McNary said:
Warner Bros. has promoted veteran exec Amit Desai to the newly created post of senior VP of franchise management for DC Entertainment.

Desai, who's been working at Warner Home Video, will develop and implement the individual franchise plans for Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash along with Mad Magazine, Vertigo titles and other DC properties. "This will include driving wider cross-promotional support across all Time Warner divisions," the announcement noted.

I'd give it to Zack Snyder if he weren't already making me believe a man can fly.

Therefore I say Alfonso Cuaron.

My three favorite filmmakers are all fantasy driven directors but they're all either taken or not interested in Batman.

Oh. God. No.

Btw, isn't this the wrong section for this thread? Because in the Nolan section there's already a Batman After Nolan thread?

Zack Snyder rox my sox

You're just a hater el pay:nono:

If after TDKR, it's still taking place in the Beginsverse, give it to Fincher.

And you will love Snyder's Superman. :cwink:

The conversion will soon begin.

I think that conversion will start slooooowly, then suddenly very quickly, then slooooowly again, then it'll freeze and the camera will move around it, then slooooowly again and so on. :cwink:

I like to see Martin Campbell or David Fincher taking over from Chris Nolan.

Wouldn't mind seeing a highly stylised or period Batman (Batman Beyond? 1940s Batman?)

Are you guys serious when you say Fincher? The only time he has ever followed someone else's lead is when he needed a step up in Hollywood. If he were to do Batman he'd do it his way, pure unadulterated. I'd want a style mix between Benjamin Button and Zodiac!

We've seen three different approaches by three different directors in the past twenty years based on Bruce Wayne/Batman during his prime. It's time for something fresh. Why not a Batman Beyond film? Michael Keaton as the old Bruce Wayne would be such a huge treat due to the obvious reasons. Milo Ventimiglia is a pretty good actor.... he stated he wants to act in a Batman film and hell, he looks just like Terry McGinnis from the animated series.

This film would obviously take place in the future but nothing that is too "Star Wars-ish". If you ever watched the film I-Robot, it's amazing how great the future Chicago looked. It would be cool if they do something like that to Tim Burton's version of Gotham City in a future Batman Beyond film.

Why a Beyond film already? I rather have few more Bruce as Batman films. We haven't seen Dick/Robin yet.

I'd like that as well (if done correctly). But I doubt someone else would pick up where Nolan left off. I can picture someone starting from scratch with a reboot shortly after TDK Rises (just like what they're doing with Spiderman) however if they must create a new series of Batman films based on a new/fresh storyline then you might as well create a Batman Beyond film. Either that or a Superman/Batman movie. Something with an overall fresh concept.

If we're lucky we'll skip to Beyond before ruining the franchise like that.

Even if Nolan's gone I serioudly doubt anyone is inetrested in Robin after the results we've historically had with him.

I wouldn't mind a futuristic take on Batman, although I don't think it necessarily needs to be based specifically on "Batman Beyond", or "The Dark Knight Returns", for that matter...though I also wouldn't mind the use of elements of both here and there.

Well no matter what universe this takes place in...the audience will expect something different...they can't do the Joker for a while (imo), I've always wanted to see Clayface....or a serious Mr. Freeze without all the puns. Riddler will be ideal though, and if they go with him hopefully they won't go back to making everything silly again.

The only way I can picture Mr. Freeze on film is if they present him in a [somewhat] realistic approach... kind of similar to the way he was presented in Detective Comics 373 however capturing the emotions of Mr. Freeze that was expressed in BTAS.

Then keep Bruce as Batman. I guess I'm only one who didn't like Batman Beyond that much.

I didn't really like it at all either. It was too "Spider-Man" for my tastes. Not that I dislike Spidey but I didn't like the mix with Batman too much. Nevertheless a similar concept could make for a compelling live action take though. Lots of possibilities to toy around with.

Batman Beyond live action will never happen. And I hope they will keep Nolan's continuity, you don't have to reboot the moment you shift the tone. The only problem is the dead Two-Face...

The best chance of it happening was ten years ago and that fell through, so I agree.

Hopefully they won't.
