Iron Man just made a lot of money and because of that i´ve seen tons of people claiming he is actually more popular than Batman and Superman. But is he really? Is the popularity of a hero measured by how much his movies make?

Does Iron Man sell more comics than Batman or Superman? Does he sell more merchandise? More toys? Does he have more fans? Is he more recognisable? I mean, can i just walk up to someone, from any age, in any country, show his symbol, and they´ll recognize it? Can i really do that? I can´t do that to my grandma. But she definitely recognizes Batman and Superman´s insignia. To me that´s popularity.

Although there is a Misc. Comic Films forum, I'd suggest keeping this in the DC Films forum. Unless you're trying to troll. Then there's a Marvel Films forum. Given your post history, I'm guessing that's your aim.

I think the difference between Iron Man/Thor/Captain America is that they are as popular as they are now because of their movies and actors. Once the movies are done and the actors have moved on they will fade away again. Unlike Superman/Batman/Spider-Man who have been very popular since their creation

This thread is where it should be. Go patrol to somewhere else.

I agree with you. Everytime i talk to someone about ironman they say "Uh, i love Robert Downey Jr". It seems people go see the movie because of the actor, and they could care less about the character itself. The same can´t be said about Batman.

This thread. :lmao:

Not trying to patrol, just making a suggestion, as well as an observation.

In an effort to contribute, I will say that the framing of your argument is fallible right off the bat. Given the nature of the beast, I'd venture to say Batman and Superman are not currently more popular than Marvel's product. Now, if you want to make this a discussion of cinematic legacy, iconography (thanks to DarkSovereignty for that perfect term), and the ebbs-and-flows of each publisher over the years, then there's some room to give Batman/Superman some due.

So are you saying that we should just forget about every other superhero and only care about Batman and Superman?

You´re comparing two characters with an entire universe. Wich character from Marvel is actually more popular than Batman? Do you think Iron-man is a better product than Batman? If you had the chance of buying any of these characters, would you buy Iron Man?

You´re actually the only person in this thread suggesting such thing.

Well guys, Kuzuki has come up with an obvious air-tight argument. I'm sorry guys, but Kazuki has convinced me that only Batman and Superman matter in terms of Superhero movies. He has shown me the light. :lmao:

You´re completely ******ed, if that´s you interpretation of my original post.

I know, right? I just love making troll threads and posting them in the wrong forums and give totally baseless and asinine opinions.

You just love to post worthless content. That´s why you have almost 20.000 posts. With so much free time in your hands that´s the best you can come up with?

You're confusing arguments now. Your base claim is that Batman/Superman are the most popular superheroes. "BY FAR." Although you use Iron Man as an example, your argument goes beyond that. Furthermore, as this is a thread and forum for discussing films, I will limit my discussion to that medium.

I would not claim The Dark Knight series as better or worse than the Iron Men movies, but different. Same with Man of Steel. I find them all to be on equal footing, with Man of Steel lagging behind. Now, if you want to bring into discussion previous films, I'd hold the Iron Man trilogy over the previous Batman movies, as well as the previous Superman movies.

All this is relevant to your base argument, though. Quality has no bearing on popularity. Look at the Saw movies, Transformers franchise, or any homecoming/prom election in the history of education. Right now, currently, what Marvel has going on, and specifically with Iron Man as the lynchpin of their shared universe, their popularity is off the charts.

I feel like parts of this thread have turned into market research.

No thanks, I'm not interested.

No, I'd just rather not waste my time with soon-to-be-banned posters.

I must find a distributer of sensible chuckle. It's relevant to my interests.
