I'm thinking about buying Return of the Joker and Batman vs Dracula.

The Return of the Joker DVD doesn't say unrated on it, what is cut out? And is Batman vs Dracula any good? Thank you.

I didn't like Batman vs Dracula very much at all. I guess it's because I hate the tv series. It's kind of goofy, although I like the idea behind it. I wish they did it better.

Return of the Joker is very good, especially if you like Batman the Animated Series. The cut version is more kid friendly. Some parts in the movie where it flashes back to the final confrontation between Joker and Batman are actually pretty dark and violent for a kids show, so the cut version reworded some things, left a few parts out, etc, to make it more kid friendly. I prefer the unrated version, so you might want to go get that instead.

I luuuurve The Batman Vs Dracula. Don't for one second imagine this is just a children's movie. Watch some trailers and clips on YouTube. It's hardly goofy. It has a dark, stormy, horror movie atmosphere all the way through. Dracula is genuinely sinister (and a far better version of the Count than in Blade Trinity or Van Helsing). The Joker has never been scarier than in this movie. There's a classic sequence in a blood bank that is equal to anything in the Dini/Timm animated series, and then the scenes of the Joker locked in the Batcave, crying out for blood are the stuff of nightmares.

Batman is grim, terse and athletic. Alfred is perfect. You also have the Penguin, Vicki Vale, Arkham Asylum, and a legion of vampire-zombies. There are scenes of SWAT teams hunting Batman, very Year One....until you realise with a shudder that while they hunt the Dark Knight, Dracula is there too, hunting them. There are plenty of hard-hitting action scenes as well, an Arkham breakout, a search for ancient treasure, what seems to be the final battle between Batman and the Joker, even Bruce struggling with the memory of his parent's death at the worst possible moment.....it's a very entertaining film.

-shrugs- Just my opinion. P:
Like I said, I liked the ideas behind it. I just didn't like how they did it, which is how they did The Batman tv show, which I don't really like. I do agree that the Joker begging for blood was pretty creepy.
If you're looking to buy the movies, you might want to check out clips of them on youtube or something similar, to get your own feel for them.

There's always ebay! And amazon. And many other sites where I think you'd be able to buy the unrated version.

Yeh, ROTJ is easy to find on the web. I have it, and I love it.

Wow, you sold me with your post. I'm buying it tomorrow on the way to see The Dark Knight.

As for ebay with ROTJ, its really hard to find an Region 4 DVD release uncut, they are usually all R1. :(

Yeh, I didn't mean find it on the web in that way :o

Return of the Joker is a really great animated movie, perhaps the best out of all the DC animated movies. It bridges the gap between the DCAU and Batman Beyond, and tells a very important story of how both good and evil can attempt to have their legacies live on. 10/10 in my opinion.

Batman vs Dracula was okay, it certainly felt a little bit more adult than the average episode from The Batman. It's worthy of any Batman collection, but i would definitely get mask of the phantasm or batman gotham knight before this one. 6.5/10 for me on this one.

I think so. It's worth it just for the classic Joker blood bank sequence. It's the stuff of nightmares.

Really, Kev? Would you enjoy it if you really hate The Batman? Because I find that show disgraceful, particularly how it handles the Joker. Even if you're not a fan of that universe, is the movie really up to par with the DCAU as you say?

And yes Return of the Joker is excellent. It is in my opinion the best animated DC film to date. Just really well written and one of the best depictions of the Joker in the DCAU (which has probably my favorite interpretation of the character to date). He has never been more sinister, there is some dark **** in the unrated version with how the blood feud between the original Batman and Joker ends and it really allows Terry McGuiness to shine as Batman's true heir and wraps up TAS continuity nicely while folding it perfectly into Batman Beyond. My only complaint is Nightwing is not in the movie.
