Batman: Arkham City

There was a character bio for Two-Face in the first game with a picture of him. Chances are that's what he'll look like.

I absolutely loved the first game, so I can't wait to learn more about this. It's a huge surprise that's it's coming this soon though, and in the back of my mind I worry a little bit that it's being too rushed. I wouldn't want a weak sequel to such a fantastic game.

I would have preferred a hairless skull look for the scarred side, but this is still good. The actual face is surprisingly similar to Nolan's Two-Face, at least with the mouth and eye.

Yeah but it is similiar to BTAS Two-Face as well.

White hair and the suit remind me of BTAS Two-Face though.

I don't mind him having hair. Especially if Black Mask is in this it's good to make Two-Face look more unique... Eh what i'm trying to say is, for example in TDK alot of people did joke how Two-Face *kinda* looked like a half-black mask so to speak. :p

I'm excited for this. I loved the first game and I'm glad they're not rehashing the original idea. Either a. they moved the asylum to a section of the city in its buildings or b. it's a metaphor for Gotham being turned into an asylum itself. Joker has control over the city. Reminds me of Joker's last line in A Serious House On A Serious Earth.

Brong on Two Face. Maybe the opening of the game deals with Harvey robbing the bank like the end of the last game mentioned and then he has a bigger part to play later. I would love to see Riddler too.

Didn't play the first one, wasn't interested. I'm a HUGE Batman fan, always have been. But the first one just didn't interest me. An entire Batman set in 1 prison? No thanks.

There is NO reason for a Batman fan not to at least rent this game. Don't avoid it just because of it's concept.

First of all, it doesn't even feel like one location. It's not one building, it's an entire island. Each location is an entirely different experience.

The combat is addicting, the stealth mechanics are a blast. It's without question the best Batman game ever, nothing else even comes close.

Besides, even if you somehow don't like the game, you've got to at least be interested in the voice work by Kevin Conroy, Arleen Sorkin and Mark Hamill.

I was interested in seeing Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy return, but after seeing the gameplay, etc etc, it just didn't seem that interesting. The combat seemed boring, boss fights unoriginal, and the grappeling seemed like a waste. No offence to people who did like it. But like I said, It seemed fairly boring to me. My dream Batman game is what I described in my post, not set on 1 tiny prison island.

And there's not a rental place around here. Sadly.

It seems like the universally raving reviews (and the fact that the game is being nominated for game of the year all over the place) would make you think "Hey, maybe I was wrong about this being boring and uninteresting."

Also, the game world is not "Tiny."

Also theres some Crazy speculation on Catwoman, based off the black cat on the fire escape. I know it sounds as crazy as saying the burned car is symbolism for anarky/firefly for this game, but hey you never know lol.

You're a huge Batman fan but passed on this game? For shame! Don't let the whole "prison atmosphere" fool you, the game really delivers as the best Batman game to date.

Believe me, man, you severely underestimate what Arkham has to offer as a battle ground :cwink:

This is hilarious.

Anyway, yeah, when I was flipping channels, I happened upon the VGAs JUST as they were airing the teaser, all I saw was the cart wheeling into Sionis' building and then everything after that. Thank god I stayed long enough to see the end and then the website.

Who else signed up for updates?

i wonder how long after the last cut scene they made the decision to move?

storing the criminals in the asylum was obviously just a temporary thing. once the new asylum was complete, they'd just ship them across. the game obviously takes place some time after the first, given the time needed to build a new asylum in the city.

i wonder if they bulldozed the buildings and so forth on arkham island? i’m thinking they probably just left it all there, abandoned. as a historical site, if you will.

No, dude, there isn't a new arkham. All the inmates have escaped into the city.

Basicly theres a wall AROUND Gotham.. It's like No Man's Land. =p Rocksteady just found it a cool thing if the people would instead of saying "oh gotham's a no man's land" to call it "oh gotham's gone bedlam!" Arkham asylum!"

um, dude, there's a sign saying "arkham asylum" on the gates. i think it is blindingly obvious there is a new arkham. as the tagline states "arkham has moved".

My sequel suggestion:
Story: U.S Goverment has declared Gotham into a "No Man's Land" and the city has been barricaded and the bridges leading to Gotham have been destroyed. Commissionaire Gordon and several other policemen have decided to remain in Gotham (now referred as Arkham Asylum) to help the civillians the best they can.

Harvey Two-Face has started his own mayor campaign to rule Gotham city with some of the remaining corrupt policemen who are sick of Gordon's and Batman's moral of staying within the law and only placing Arkham's most wanted in asylums, these policemen are all out there to kill Joker and the other freaks.

Black Mask and Penquin are on a total gang war, both wish to control Gotham as their own crime paradise, illegal weapons of destruction are being shipped to Gotham and Black Mask has also taken Kirk Langstrom's wife as a hostage in order to gain the "Man-Bat" serum for his own private army of Man-Bat monsters.

Various other villains and vigilantees have been spotted around Gotham. Mr. Freeze has been seen raiding various hospitals and hi-tech labs for equipment for his own personal goals, where the Wonderland gang has been seen raiding banks for money and whatnot. Rumours of Joker's return are also starting to rise with "Long live Joker" grafiti all over Gotham.

Batman, Nightwing, Robin, Oracle along with Catwoman helping them have teamed up and now face the darkest days of their lives when Hell literally has come to Gotham.

To make things worse, rumours of stronger fear gas with mutating side effects have been spot around people and a new Red Hood with the motto "let the punishment fit the crime" motto has been heard.

Playable Characters:
- Batman (same costume)
- Nightwing
- Robin
- Catwoman

Batman and Robin play the same way as in the first game, where Catwoman and Nightwing are the more acrobatic and swift players of the group.

Base of Operations: Either the main Batcave underneath Wayne Manor or give tribute to 70s Batman with the Batcave beneath a penthouse in middle of Gotham.

Villains:
- Black Mask
- Penquin
- Wonderland gang
- Mr. Freeze
- Deathstroke the Terminator (hired by Black Mask)
- Two-Face
- Joker & Harley Quinn
- Red Hood (Jason Todd)
- Scarecrow
- Man-Bat Monsters

Obviously not everything would fit the launch, but Gotham allows DLC packs much easier for story telling than Arkham Asylum can.

Supporting cast:
- Huntress
- Alfred
- Oracle
- Jim Gordon
- Harvey Dent ( ;) )

Scarecrow Fear:
The fears Batman should see in this game are on his failures. From failing to save Gotham for the destruction it is now, to such things as Jason Todd's death.

quick question: why does joker look like sh** and coughing in the trailer? is he like sick or something?

He's recovering from the beating he got from Batman in the final battle of the previous game.

yep. a large portion would be him recovering from the the titan formula that he shot under the chin. he's coming down from that. he's hooked up to medical machines and so on. the last cinematic says that while the giant titan soldiers are back to normal size, some are recovering better than others. the serum improved over the course of the game, but i'm sure it was still not perfected. you would expect some form of side affects, and they would affect others in different ways.
