They'll need to make some massive changes to keep the next Batman game fresh. Some thing's I'd like to see (assuming the next game is a prequel or not an Arkham-verse title):
The story should take place over a longer period of time - none of this "all in one night" stuff. Having the game take place over several days or weeks will create a lot of potential in narrative and gameplay options.
I want time out of the suit. Bruce Wayne and his life is an important part of who Batman is. It's time we get more of that half of him.
Wayne Manor/Batcave. I want to explore Wayne Manner and it's grounds. I want to be able to enter the house and find the secret entrance to the Batcave, suit up, and head out to Gotham in the Batwing or Batmobile.
Personally, i only want to walk around as bruce wayne in an intro...otherwise i dont see the gameplay wise interest in it.
It would be enough to hear about his life, seeing him be more then the image playboy etc...but i dont need gameplay sections with him.
A intro with him walking through wayne manor while alfred talks about certain things on their way to the batcave, would kill two birds with one stone.
Im okay with the one night thing, but i could see it work over more then one night.
They could pretty much stop the "night" at a certain main story point, have batman need to go to the batcave to investigate...and let us start the next night in the batcave.
Seeing gotham by daylight would be cool in a short shot, but batmans work is mostly by night.
Having a good intro that covers all those aspects, could be really interesting.
You could start with bruce in ego perspective, sitting in his car early morning.
while driving through a living and breathing gotham city full of people in daylight.
Reading the papers, watching news, hearing the radio, have alfred talk about certain things etc.
The thing is, they dont need to make that big changes...since knight has all things that are needed.
Crime scene investigation, car chases, dual play, stealth, combat etc...all the flavours are there...they just need to use them more.
