Batman: Arkham Knight

I'd go:

Arkham Asylum: 9/10 - Pretty perfect, points deducted for lame boss battles. Also Harley and Ivy's over cheestastic outfits.
Arkham City: 8/10 - Nonexistent plot and missed opportunities, but nevertheless one of the most thrilling gaming experiences I've had with magnificent setpieces. Also Catwoman was written horribly, I have no idea how such a great character was turned into little more than awful puns, exaggerated delivery, and shallow sensuality.
Arkham Origins: 9/10 - I find this hard to rate, since it doesn't innovate, but my main concern is plotting and characterisation, and this game does it perfectly. The atmosphere is pervasive, the boss battles fun, and there is actual development.
Arkham Knight: 6/10. Nonexistent plot, bad characterisation, obvious twist that leads to nothing, junk season pass, overreliance on Batmobile, tank battles tank battles tank battles. And no boss fights. The only reason it still gets a decent score is the gorgeous look of the game and smooth gaming elements.

Those are pretty much my scores too except I give AC an 8.5 and AK a 7 or7.5

Still got my game that I got for Christmas all wrapped up. Will try to trade it in at Gamestop, sadly my sis lost the receipt though.

I've been thinking about it a while, whether or not I should give it a go, but I think I just don't want to suffer through all the things, I know will just annoy the hell out of me. I greatly enjoyed the Arkham series, but with the final entry in the series, they seem to have made all the wrong decisions. And I don't want the series to end for me like this.

You don't need a receipt to trade in at Gamestop

EDIT: Unless you meant exchange or get the money back.

All the Arkham Games had plots. The execution might not have been to your liking, but they all had plots... Also the characterization in Season of Infamy was pretty great! Especially for Freeze.

Man, it's a very game. It has it's flaws and problems, sure, it's not as perfect as AC. But overall it's very good. Don't let all the haters it has on here get to you. Give it a try.

the season of infamy missions felt more in line with the older games than some of the main game missions

as it stands i still dislike how the man bat fight and deathstroke battle felt very underwhelming

I can understand you not liking the story but to say these games had a nonexistant plot is quite an exageration. Its not like you were going around doing nothing without a story to tie things together. AK was heavy on the plot; it was just very predictable and not well executed. AC was there, but not what people expected

Played NG+ and if we play only the main story, it felt like tank battles take only about 10% of game time. Claiming that AC and AK had non-existent plots is absurd.

Flaws remain the same for me:
1) Deathstroke side mission. 10-15 tanks battles and copy-paste battle against Cloudburst in the end all over again. Ass-lazy work. The biggest flaw of the game for me.
2) Lack of boss fights. Seriously. With such a great set of super-villains, the game begged for a few of them. Missed opportunity.
3) Exaggerated repetitiveness of certain missions - rescuing firemen, disabling outposts and stuff. We don't need so much of them. We have Far Cry games already.

Everything has a plot. What he probably means is that it was so bad in his opinion that it shouldn't be regarded as a plot, even though it is. That's it.

Yeah, but let's be honest, even if they had proper boss fights, they'd probably suck some way or another. It's always been a flaw of the Arkham games with a few exceptions here and there.

I've never had a problem with arkham knight with glitches or anything. People complaining levels are too hard or too easy. Never happy. The season pass was perfect. Just ungrateful people with extreme expectations. I can understand a hate or dislike for something but come on. When you start listing heaps of things that you have wrong with the game then its just too much and you shouldn't be taken seriously. Yeah you may not like the story (fair enough ) or the batmobile but you go through and pick apart every aspect of the game goes to show that you are hard to please. GGood god I was reading that some haven't even played the game but have heard bad things about the game and might not play it because of that. Blind sheep. Form your own opinion. Are you a fan or what?
Loved the dlc. Finally finished it and got the new suit. Sweet. Not a problem. As for the old arkham batmobile its easy but different to drive. Love it. I'm happy.

And people can't give perfect scores because they need to complain about something to be taken seriously. If its perfect to you then stuff what others say and think.

It would've been an appreciated effort, at least. They didn't even try at all in this. Even the battles against Goliath, Riddler, and Killer Croc followed the same beats and seemed repetitive.

There's no need for this. People are allowed to have criticisms, just as their free to love something.

Best game in the franchise now!

When knight first came out the game was lacking replay value big time because of the lack of challenge maps. Now though with DLC and patches the game has the most replay value of any of the arkham games because it has more combat/pretater maps then any another arkham game. The game has the best story in the franchise and the way joker was used was just brilant! Has good has the game play and combat where in city and origins the game play is even better now with envirment tackdowns and fear tackdowns. With the game having racktracks there is even more virety then in the past arkham games and just more challenges to give you something to do out side of just story mode or free roam. With SOI there are now 18 side missions in the game. I am not sure how many where in the another games but i am pretty sure there where less.

Could the season pass be better? Yes it could has the story DLC out side of batgirl's and SOI was only 15 minutes each should have been more like batgirls. But even with that said SOI was 2 hours, batgirl with collectables was a hour and a half and the 5 story DLC where 15 minutes each. That is around 4 hours and 45 minutes of story DLC. Before knight all we really had was city's hardley story that was around batgirl length and origins cold cold heart that was around that length. So while the games story DLC could have been longer we still got far more story DLC then any of the another arkham games, more challenge maps then any another arkham game, rack tracks to give more virety to the game, more side missions then the another games. The game also has more charaters that you get to play has then any another arkham game to! Before the patchets and DLC this was around my 9th favorite game of all time and was behind both city and origins. Now though this game is the best game in the franchise and maybe the best video game ever made! Think you rocksteady to fixing just about ever issue this game had out side of boss fights wtich we should have had more of.

Quality over quantity and the quality has simply been lacking for many

A small minority were displeased with the game, nothing is universally loved.

So form their own opinion...unless it's that they don't like it? :o I forgot being a fan meant I had to just blindly love everything that comes out.

Not trying to change anyones opinion here:

On my 2nd playthrough I spaced out the tank battles a little better and they didnt feel as plentiful as during my 1st play... Honestly I love the game because it continued to iterate and/or add to existing play systems already in the series... AK added so many little details to the gameplay that I loved: chaining grapples to scale buildings, diving off buildings, fear takedowns, tossing gadgets while dive kicking an enemy, going down pipes and into vents, diving/kicking windows etc etc... so many gameplay systems to use so i can "batman" in however way I see fit..... The side visions which the media always hyped up as being better than other open world games remain as hit or miss as always.
My biggest gripe with the story is the "identity of the Arkham Knight".... it is so painfully obvious as to whom it is that it lessens batman because I know who the knight is and I have to play and watch the worlds greatest detective be completely ignorant to something very obvious.

It is the "best" game in the series from a pure gameplay standpoint... though the best story in the series is still in Arkham Origins (big Bane fan so Im biased).... As others have mentioned, I liked the little shoutouts to Origins in AK (hell they even adapted AO version of Gordon)...As far as ranking the series its kind of like Zelda games in that its not a 1, 2, 3 ranking as much as its a 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.... the series has been that good in my eyes.....hell i would even include the EA Batman Begins game on this list as its a skeleton/blueprint of what the arkham series would be.

Btw the season pass is undewhelming in a sense....that being said the base game is definitely not lacking in content.. I bought the pass because I wanted any and every piece of content I could get out of my favorite series...yes I wish they had done better..but no I do not regret my purchase...

I just hope I never have to listen to Tara Strong imitate Arleens version of Harley...it is grating and very annoying...

I think its more than a small minority. By and large, most appeared to be dissappointed with it

Its got both quality and quantity. SOI was really good even though it lacked boss fights and batgirl story was really good to.

The game as of October 12 sold over 5million copies and made well over a 300million. It's like Jurassic World, or The Force Awakens not everyone loves those movies but anyone who doesn't is in the minority. It's not that those people opinions don't matter but it is what it is.
