Batman: Arkham Knight

Origins is the weakest arkham game, but it should be included.

Completely disagree. IMHO that's Arkham Knight. Once the glitches were fixed Origins was the best Arkham game, IMO anyway.

Won't pick this up due to them snubbing Origins. Call this the Rocksteady collection.. Because that's what it is.

I completely agree with you!

Even under separate cover, I hope WBM would follow suit with an Origins remaster.

^ hope so.

especially since Origins never did get a "GOTY/Definitive" edition, did it?

I can't wait to see some official comparison shots. I tried to compare some shots from the trailer to a recent HD quality walkthrough of the opening of Asylum, and they definitely updated a lot, such as adding in dynamic lighting and smoke when Batman first brings in the Joker. They also added some more color/saturation overall.

I never had an issue with the older games visually, but I can't wait to see how they look on the new consoles.

I continue to be amazed at the change in attitude towards Origins since its initial release. The first two games are clearly superior, and origins only works because of arkham city.

I like Origins quite a bit, but everything related to the gameplay is a shameless copy and paste of arkham city with a worse level design and bland open world.

Not to mention the finicky combat and the game overall really lacks the polish of the first two games. Story is good though.

No Origins? No need to buy. Origins, for all its faults, had the best story by a country mile. It is the one I wanted a chance to play it again without the glitches.

With Origins, I would have gotten this day 1. Without, I'll wait until it hits about $20.

also, just from a "complete package/story" point of view, it seems kind of odd not to include Origins.

I know they won't, but I wouldn't mind if they removed the Challenge Maps. Those are the only things preventing me from getting the Platinums on the PS3 versions.
That would be an incredibly awful idea. Why would you want to remove them as opposed to not making them s requirement for platinum?

lol you crazy that is like the best part of these games and adds so much replay ablite.

You're right, that's a much better idea. Although that will most likely not be the case either.

I think Arkham Knight made a lot of people think twice about that.

It was exclusive to EU though

I'd like Origins a lot more if it wasn't so buggy and glitchy. And if the story didn't have such a bad case of prequel-itis.

I hope if WB Games Montreal makes an early years Batman game again they go all out with the gameplay and the story as well as make a more polished product.

I'm sure they will.

People thought that about Arkham Origins as well. The GOTY Edition to City was announced 6 months after release. Its been almost a year for AK and they went and announced this collection instead

true. but it took them this long to release the Arkham remaster.

so, give them time........:cwink: :oldrazz:

Yeah it's weird. I feel like there's some hardcore revisionist history about Arkham Origins going on here. That game is an Arkham City clone but a little bit worse in practically every aspect. The interior levels drop the Metroidvania design for areas that you just plough straight through and then go back out the way you came, they saddled you with a broken upgrade/XP system, upset the combat balance, added two rubbish new gadgets. The side missions were all "Fly to six marked areas, fight guys at each one, unlock final area, fight guys there". Bossfights are either pale imitations of AC bosses (Bane) or just phases of AC bosses stretched to full fights (Copperhead).

That 'best in the series' story is a bog standard Joker origin story that culminates in a perfectly unironic "We're not so different, you and I" speech. I mean, at least you don't have to blow up 600 tanks in the Batmobile, but I don't know how this idea popped up that Origins is anything more than decent.

Not "clearly" superior to me, or a lot of other people. Origins took the best of AC's game play, created a beautiful Christmas atmosphere, crafted a terrific story, the boss battles are better, the female characters are not overly sexualized in their designs, and added some of it's own touches like the crime scene reconstruction.

Yes, it's not quite as polished as the other games, but the pros far out weigh the cons, and it's above the other Arkham games in quality, especially AK. Sometimes it takes a truly disappointing game to make people see how good they had it before. I suspect that is partially why Origins is a lot more appreciated now than it was on it's initial release.
