Batman: Arkham Knight

City used to be my favorite but then I replayed Asylum and realized how much I prefer it because of the setting and story.

I like AK a lot and still play it sometimes but it's the weakest because a lot of things ruined it for me. Made me want a whole new game in a new game universe but rumors suggests the next one is another prequel or something

When it comes to video games a story is as useful to my enjoyment as a good story is useful in porn. So my ratings for games is weighted heavily in how much I enjoy the gameplay. Which is why turn based role playing games don't really appeal to me.

So the best game in the franchise to me is Ak, City and Asylum, then Origins. Origins has too many freezes and crashes for my liking.

Better story and characters I'd say.

If you combined the two games and took away the tank bots you'd have almost the perfect Batman game.

But you cant take away the tank battles. They are an intrinsic part of the game and drag it down. Outside of that, Joker also ruins Knight for me. Its truly the worst of the 4 console games. The only thing it has going for it are the graphics. The gameplay wasnt even the best as I thought it got overly complicated with all the additions that were introduced

Would you say AK has a more refined fighting mechanics? More diverse gameplay?
Nope! See above

Identity reveal
Joker
Too much focus on the batmobile
Jason Todd being the AK
Batman going against a huge high tech army mostly by himself

Are 5 things I loath about AK. Gameplay and everything else is fine but the story and it's execution..ugh!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who was annoyed by the over abundance of Joker in AK. Never thought I'd say that about Hamill's Joker, but he was an unnecessary, and often irritating presence in the game for me. He would often talk over other characters when you are having dialogue with them.

Felt shoe horned in just so they could bring him back. Like Rocksteady was afraid to do a Batman game without him as a major presence in it again.

That's your opinion but with dual play, batmobile, AR challenges, along with new character gameplay. This was the best overal and most diverse gameplay we've ever had in the entire series. The aspects I'd like to see change requires a completely different game franchise. Like if they could have all the gameplay of AK without tanks in a GTA style open world.

The gameplay being diverse (which it isn't) doesn't make it necessarily good. Also the entire dual play angle is so painfully underused in the game it might as well not even have been in the game at all. Also as other's have pointed out, the batmobile stuff was absolute ****e.

Obviously its my opinion. Dualplay was the best addition but as mentioned was underutilized. The batmobile is a negative and took away from the game. The game added a whole lot more but that didnt necesarily make it better. I preferred the more simplified approach of the earlier games

Which is kind of funny because, when they originally announced the game, they never really alluded to any of that. It was more Scarecrow/all the bad guys teaming up to take down Batman.

Then you play the game and it feels like everyone is just off working on their own in the background of things. Kind of a waste.

Yeah it did not feel or come across in game as it was advertised when it came to the villains.

I'm not exclusively talking about dual play or the batmobile. But if I was I wouldn't be saying it's diverse. There was more to the game beside that, those were big additions but not my favorite. My favorite were the instant takedowns, because nothing makes you more like Batman. Then dropping a smoke bomb and take six baddies out in matter of seconds. My other favorite is while gliding throwing batarngs, batclaw and explosives.Dropping to the ground then going into a special combo.

I liked the added gameplay really opened up possibilities on the strategy I used during for an attack. I loved being able to pick a guy off the floor and just him down or slam them to the ground.

Origins still remains my favorite Arkham title.
I really with they would have remastered as part of Return to Arkham.

After three games without the Batmobile,
I don't mind its use in Arkham Knight. I'd rather
have it the way it is than it be without the Batmobile.
I never got that critique of Arkham Knight. Its use makes
sense with all that is going on in Gotham with it being under siege.

It's possible to have the batmobile and not be so overbearing like it ended up being in AK. Yeah it makes sense for the story but the whole story sucks IMO

Agreed - Prior to the first arkham asylum, they all seemed so cheaply made.

I really wish more comic book heroes would get a quality game.

Spider-Man by Insomniac
Avengers by Crystal Dynamics/Eidos Montréal

Those are definately going to be awesome. As for the main Batman games I love all of them. They're so good. Origins has the best story/boss battles,Knight has the best gameplay/graphics,Asylum was a fantastic first chapter with the best atmosphere and City is probably the overall best.

When I play current-gen games, unless it is Shadow of Mordor, I play them for the story. If I want gameplay-centric titles, I will dig out the NES. Anyway, my ranking for the series:
-Origins
-City
-Knight
-AA

There are no bad titles; each has its own unique flavor and associated weaknesses. I wish WB Montreal would make another game, now that Rocksteady is finished....

Exactly how I see it.

Origins being left out of Return to Arkham was a deal breaker for me, Origins had the most to gain from a remaster and some additional polishing, but it got left out instead and the collection feels even more half arsed than it already was without it.

Origins/Asylum
City

Knight

Knight sucked.

It seems I'm among the few who holds Arkham City above the rest. That was my ultimate Batman experience.

Too bad the story kinda sucks, but the gameplay was at its best in that game.

I always wanted an Origins remaster as well. But I still have my ps3 specifically for Origins and RDR. 2 games I could replay the hell out of and have.
