Batman: Battle for the cowl

Yeah, if there's a big possibility of it sucking, it's how little time they have to tell this story. I'd think with a big event like this, they'd give it, like, six issues.

Actually if anything this prevents Daniel from giving us filler material like you'd normally find in a 6 to 12 issue maxi series since he has to maintain a much quicker pace. I'm glad they only gave him 3 this is how blockbuster events should work, quick and easy that leaves no room for any real boredom in the series.

They've said that you can read it by itself and still get it, but, considering DC's history with that...scan the other issues at your store, just in case.

Do you even read DC? they're notorious for having worthless tie-in's. Hell as recently as last year lot of people lambasted them because the R.I.P. tie-in's while good in their own rights served no purpose when it came to the main narrative. Same with Final Crisis and the majority of the tie-in's not written by Morrison (save for Resist and Secret Files). I actually prefer that method as I don't have to waste money on stuff I'm not even interested in just to get the big picture.

At the same time though this event actually has tie-in's that intrigue me at least on paper. I'm actually curious about reading the first issue of the Azrael series since Morrison's concept of Lane intrigued me and I'd like to see how another writer plays with that. I will also get Commisioner Gordon and Oracle: The Cure when I visit my store tomorrow because frankly because I enjoy reading about those characters.

i love oracle...imo the women in the bat family (babs, cass, steph, selina) are far more interesting than the men (not including bats himself)

p.s. why does ONE person have to take up the mantle? why cant it be a team of heroes inspired by bruce waynes life? all under oracles direction (screw bop lol)

Because that's what's happening in The Outsiders under Alfred's leadership so that'd be redundant.

Looks like Gordon's gonna start going after Jason in Battle for the Cowl #2.

honestly how long can that go on...i really dont forsee dc having alfred (a butler) leading a group of heroes (some of them meta-humans) for an extended period of time. even with all of his training and experience in the field. what needs to happen is the outsiders and the birds of prey need to be retooled and oracle needs to lead the rest of the bat family...except jason, he should stay on his own as the black sheep of the bat family. sometimes working with them and others being hunted by them.

I sometimes keep thinking we will have 2 Batmen. Dick with Daniel and maybe otherwise Jason. Tim Drake is definatly becoming Red Robin because his description was that he believes Bruce is somewhere and hes gone searching for him.

i dont think dick will be batman...although the fact that he doesnt want to be batman is the very reason he is best suited for it. and i dont think anyone else could be nightwing.

CBR: Is the Batman that you’re writing in “Batman” the same Batman that will be in Grant Morrison & Frank Quitely’s “Batman and Robin?”

Judd Winick: Yep, Batman’s Batman. Across all the books and all the titles, Batman will be the same Batman.

And this from Tony Daniel's blog appears to accidentally reveal who the replacement Batman will be in the corner description of the Batsuit.
"* Pitch Black Cape can envelope Dick & hide him completely."

The Dick as Batman gimmick has already been done before.

Yes this is going to be exactly like the story where Dick didn't want to be Batman because he knew Bruce was alive and capable of recovering to take over the mantle again :whatever:

As long as they want to keep it going on.

Well just because you don't see it doesn't mean it won't happen. Expect over a year's worth of stories with that concept.

what needs to happen is the outsiders and the birds of prey need to be retooled

Why? the outsiders team they have now is damn near pitch perfect better than the lineup that was around before Tomasi came on board. BOP is nothing without Babs and since they're hinting that she will be able to walk again and become Batgirl once more I'd rather not see another BOP book.

and oracle needs to lead the rest of the bat family...

She's already assisting the network (bat family) in helping to protect Gotham have you not read this series or something?

except jason, he should stay on his own as the black sheep of the bat family. sometimes working with them and others being hunted by them.

Yeah I also prefer him to be the bastard child of the Batman.

Can someone give me a new link to tony's blog? the one he had has been closed down so he prolly has a new one now, yes? >_> Thanks theman-bat for the picture btw!

he wants to stop online activity in general it seems. so no new blog. overkill maybe but it's probably a wise move for now at least

i hoping the new batman will be dick grayson.im looking forward to this new era and want it to stay dick as batman for years to come we will get bruce wayne back some day just hope not to soon.
and i cant see any1 taking over dick graysons roll of nightwing as theres a new nightwing in the superman comics.
i belive jason todd will end up dead or will final find his path as a villian.

I guess that's that.

Well Tony Daniel had said he made a Batsuit design for all Robins, also that design won't be used. DC wasn't happy with full black costume apparently. :/ It was too movie-alike they said.

One question. Is the batsuit in Morrison's Batman and Robin going to be the final product? It's not bad, although it feels a little retro. It would have been nice to see something a little new in design.

I'm still pissed that B-man is suppossedly dead.

Intentionally killed 'for real' characters.

Bucky.
Barry Allen
Supergirl
The Doom Patrol
Jason Todd
Norman Osborn
Professor X
Lightning Lad

I'm not sure if Parallax Hal was supposed to really be dead or if the Spectre gig was planned before he failed to assume room temperature.

I believe each of them is alive and kicking in canon.

Neither Batman nor Steve Rogers is going to stay dead.

how is this series so far? i'm thinking about reading some batman comics when they all resume.

Everything about this Bruce is dead thing makes me sick! I am so ticked off about this garbage. One thing that makes me mad is they said RIP didn't really mean he'd be dead at the end and I'm sure he's not, he'll be back eventually.

I didn't read Final Crisis so maybe there's something I missed. All I know is he beat the Black Glove then all of a sudden he was captured and had some mind warping helmet stuck on him, then he was like a ghost and then it went to this BFTC crap.

I am so sick of this character "dying" garbage. Instead of coming up with a good story to get people's attention, they just pull this crap that the character's dead, even though the character's not dead they eventually show up.

I went through Knightfall I don't wanna' go through it again. I just wanna' read my fave Superhero.

I guess I'll be catching up on back issues and graphic novels now to read about my hero.

Forget all this other garbage. I can't wait till Bruce comes back. And I can't wait till they figure out how to write an actual story again instead of just faking a death to get a gimmick story.

You'll always have Batman: Confidential to buy, read and make passionate love to every month if Bruce Wayne being gone grinds your gears so damn much.
