Batman Begins Batman Begins is the greatest super hero movie ever.

Batman Begins will be second to The Dark Knight.

Or maybe the other way around.

I'll decide at a later date.

Batman Begins is my favorite movie. No other movie has ever made me feel such chills while watching it for the first time. Hell, I still get chills during certain parts of it even though I've seen it probably 100 times at this point.
Amen.

Christian Bale would totally kick this guy's ass

it was... till Iron Man. Prepare to get dropped again next week

Yep. Greatest superhero movie, until next week.

I don't think I would have enjoyed a lovey dovey subplot, too many Super Hero films has an undertone of "I LOVE YOU [insert ladies name here]!" and then "[Insert name here] is kidnapped, come or she dies!".

The love story is really between Bruce and Gotham, which is kind of how it should be if you think about it.

It'll do... 'Til Dark Knight comes out... then it's screwed

If this movie is as great as we all hope/expect I think Begins will fall under very harsh scrutiny.

I would put Batman Begins in my upper tier of superhero films, but not right at the top. The problem with the film, versus a film like Spider-Man 2, is that the villain story and the supporting characters are just there. They really don't hold their weight next to the main story, which is Bruce's origin. And as Kevin mentioned earlier, I didn't quite feel the Batman mystique whenever Bale put on the costume. And lest I forget the really shoddy attempts at action sequences.

Whereas with Spider-Man 2 (which I feel is the most complete superhero flick to date) everything in the film matters: Harry's story, Mary Jane's story, Octavius' story, May's story. And it's all tied together. Not to mention the action sequences were kinetic and imaginative. The thing I will say, though, is that Begins was far better paced than SM2.

But in the end, I think a lot of fans mistake Begins' "darkness" and "edginess" for quality, and chide Spider-Man 2 for its more light-hearted moments and dub them "campy". I just don't believe in that mentality, whatsoever.

I agree with everything you said.

I think Batman Begins is still king.

I still haven't seen TDK, mind you.

But compared to the others...I think it's best.

For me Begins makes it on the list after TDK, STM and B89 at the very least.

Well now that I've seen it's sequel, Batman Begins is now the second best.

Yes. In my list this will be the second best. Now that I have seen TDK.

i can't decide which, of the two nolan films i like better....

elements of both films outdo each other in some ways

i love the joker - PERFECT

i love two-face's look- perfect

i love harvey dent- perfect

i thought two-face could be more twisted though

Christopher Nolan kicked his own ass.
In retrospect, after seeing the Dark Knight, it just made me realize how bad Batman Begins was. The script of TDK, the acting, the pacing, and the characters just highlighted all the mediocrity of the last film. TDK was one hell of a superhero movie, maybe the best, but at the very least in the same league as Superman.

I liked how the film was about Bruce Wayne myself. But I like Superman (the character) a little more than Batman. So it won't be the best film for me. But I liked it a lot. So it's up there. I'm just not super obsessed with it (irony unintended).

Agreed on every word.

Utterly disagree. In fact Begins is still my favourite of the two. Structurally, it had a far superior screenplay and a more forceful narrative drive and focus. TDK felt disjointed and episodic at times. You may prefer TDK and that's fine, most people do it seems. But to trash Begins just because you've found a new lover is just petty. Batman Begins is a damn fine film and I'll defend it to the death (metaphorically!).

Ah well, my problems with begins are very well documented long before I saw TDK.

Begins is plodding. The journey's unimaginative and uninvolving, and theme so basic and obvious yet it's repeated over and over as if it's some deep insight. They don't really have anything interesting to say about Bruce Wayne and Batman as characters, where things become fresh is Batman as an abstraction, but one with a palpable influence on the city. TDK cuts out the tedious chaff and boils it down to the characters in their element, actually doing something rather than just talking, drawing more out of the little moments than Begins managed with entire scenes
