Batman Elimination Game Suggestion Box

Nolan and Burton are on the list, as I'm going through and making sure I didn't miss out on anyone. I suppose I could throw Schumacher in there for target practice if I need to round it out to 15. I'm also digging up some basic bios to give a little more insight to some of the lesser known names. The plan was for Round 24 to start this afternoon, but it'll likely be later on because I have to leave now and receive a key to city.

In looking to bring it to 15, I was toying with a few other names; Jim Lee, Tim Sale, Val Kilmer, Dick Sprang, Dick Giordano and as mentioned, Schumacher. Input in finalizing the list is welcome. As it stands now...

Christian Bale
Tim Burton
Kevin Conroy
Michael Keaton
Jeph Loeb
Frank Miller
Alan Moore
Christopher Nolan
Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams collaboration
Jerry Robinson
Julius Schwartz
Bruce Timm/Paul Dini collaboration
Adam West

Hmm...it is kind of odd to have Kevin Conroy on the list only because he is part of the Dini/Timm collaboration since he was the star. If it wasn't for them he wouldn't have become to be the Batman that so many people came to like.

This could also be said for a lot of the actors and directors that are split. I guess it isn't a problem but it might confuse a few people perhaps?

Also, if you do add Sale...perhaps have him grouped with Loeb since so many times they teamed up like O'Neil and Adams did?

I thought about the Conroy issue, but figured his standing is enough to warrant his own spot (similar to Bale/Nolan and Burton/Keaton). I meant to list Sale as a potential pairing with Loeb for the reason you mentioned. This is the type of sloppiness that occurs when you haven't been home for 3 days. I'll be able to determine which way is up by tonight.

Yeah, I guess if I had to choose, I'd put these teams together...

Nolan / Bale
Burton / Keaton
Timm / Dini / Conroy
Loeb / Sale

..and add Jim Lee & Dick Sprang.

OK, I didn't place Sale or Lee specifically on the list, but I did make reference to their collaboration with Loeb. I wanted to mainly rely on writers in those type situations. Looking back at the work, Loeb didn't seem as tied to there as some of the other collective names. Added Morrison and Sprang. But hey, if there's bloodshed, there's always room for an edit. I'll be back this evening, long after the battlelines have been drawn.

So what will the new round be entitled again?

How about doing a "worst storyline in the batverse" or something different than "Batvehicles:Round4"?

Alright, the round is now over and time for a new one.

Looking back at Mister J's list...I guess it is time for the quotes round?

Don't wanna become redundant... don't wanna become redundant... but I'll suggest this line from Identity Crisis one more time, in case it got overlooked. It just might be my favorite Batman line ever...

"I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either."

If these rounds keep to pattern, the winning quote will probably be "I am vengeance, I am the night, I am Batman." But it shouldn't win. If it's included my votes will go to "What are you, dense, ******ed? I'm the goddamn Batman."

We should add what Bats said to Supes in IC. You know, the whole "last time you inspired anyone was when you were dead" speech.

That was in Infinite Crisis. Then, the Superman from Earth 2 decided to come because he saw the big three not cooperating when they are supposed to be the greatest of Earth 1.

While watching some JLU episodes with my brother, an idea struck me that I think we could do for a future round:

Best JL/JLU Episode featuring Batman.

Basically, the list would only be episodes where we saw Batman often or played a big part in. Not all episodes afterall had him appearing in them. If there is difficulty in finding episodes that included him versus ones that didn't, I can help with that; just let me know.

Oh you're right. I apologize. I thought you meant Identity Crisis when you typed IC, and I knew it wasn't that.

Will do.

Gotta have the infamous quote that made ASB&R what it is ...you know, outside of the ridiculously delayed schedule.

Good suggestion. I'll dig through the archives in get it in full.

Hmm. Interesting. We'll have to give that some development for later.

I'm going to incorporate the quotes above and browse around and see if I missed anything notable. Voting usually sucks on the weekend, so let's shoot for Monday.

"I haven't been a kid since I was eight years old."

Yeah, that's another great one, from JLU -- Kid Stuff.

I love that episode. I'm going to see if I can get any lines to add from the Timmverse tomorrow.

Actually, that is a really good one. Extremely rare if you ask me and unique. I wouldn't really mind if but the problem is that there are two people talking: Terry and Bruce. That was from the first Shriek episode; that villain was cool.

What happened, Mister J? You used to be cool.
Wait a minute. Is that why people have been trying to take my lunch money as of late. :csad:

I think I'm going to dust some of the older ideas around this joint; Locations, B:TAS B-List Villains and the rest of the Elseworlds stories come to mind. Also, I'm working on a Signature Item round to what is most associated with Batman (Batarang, Batmobile, Batcave, Ulility Belt, Partners, etc.) I'm too lazy to fill it out right now, so try to not let the anticipation overwhelm you.

I know we did a B:TAS episodes round, but perhaps a round divided by seasons should be done. This works a lot better for the two seasons of 'Gotham Knights' series, as most of the original version's eps are Season 1. We'd have to re-distribute somehow.

I had a passing thought concerning listing Batman's attributes into a round; 'Defining Characteristic' so to speak (detective skills, fighting prowess, intimidation factor, etc). Likely a short round in terms of choices. I hope to give it some more thought, but that damn laziness is kicking in again. :o :joker:
