Batman: kill or not kill?

I dont think they spell out that they were dead, but with Batmans previous record in that book, I think it was implied that he just iced them all.

DKR is so inconsistent with that, it's unbelievable. In the same chapter, Batman blows away the child hostage with that Rambo gun but then doesn't want to "cross the line [he] made for himself years ago" with the mutant leader. Isn't he supposed to hate guns anyway?

Butanyway, let's not get too sidetracked here--I think the thread's topic was should Batman kill, not whether he has.

I preffer non-killing Batman, if only because the minute he starts offing people, he has no rogues gallery. We know he can get into Arkham whenever he pleases, so what would there be to stop him from going in there and just capping every last inmate one at a time, starting with the Joker?

I'd start with somebody small and let Joker sweat it out. But that's just me...

I think DC needs to do an Elseworlds where Batman just decides "enough already" and goes rogue. And then it would be a three-way battle between the police, the bat, and the baddies.

That said, I wouldn't mind if Batman killed "as a last resort" or somesuch in regular continuity, but definitely not the "breaking somebody's neck swinging by" type.

Batman shouldn't kill. Non-killing Batman is a hero. Some people prefer this "avenging death"-Batman, but not me. IMO Batman is all about being a hero.

Not as inconsistent as it seem at face value. The never said that the child hostage taker was killed so Batman could have shot him in the shoulder:whatever:.

I prefer my Batman dark and tortured, struggling to resist the urge to kill thugs every night. There is always that danger of crossing that line, again. The line between obsession and madness.

Why would he use guns if he hates them??? This brings to light his mental instability.

I love the flawed tortured and twisted Batman, I'm not a fan of the bright, cheery, healthy, well-adjusted champion of the people Batman. Too perfect...Characters with flaws are much more interesting.

I do like the "Dark Knight". I couldn't stand Batman comics, if they were done in 60s style. To make this short, I'll just give two examples: BTAS and Batman Begins. Bats was a hero in those, who didn't kill, but he was also troubled and scary.

And running around in a blue and grey costume that looks like a flying rat....throwing away millions of dollars fighting criminals......breaking bone after bone and risking his life on a nightly bases doesnt "bring to light his mental instability" in your eyes?????

Wow talk about the obvious:brucebat:

I dont think that's what Batman would do though. He's too logical for mind games like that. He would take out the most dangerous threats first, then work his way down. So he'd start with Joker and end with...I don't know...Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

His gun issues further brings to light his mental instability.

Batman has used guns when one was not pointed at his head.

In DKR the gun was pointed at a childs head and in most other cases that I can think of when he used a gun one or more were pointed at him at the time.

Year 2 is about the only time that I can think of where he use's a gun with out one being pointed at him at the time but he was under the pressure of the Reaper who was useing guns......besides the golden age anyway.

batman's better off not killing. i think that's kinda what he's known for. a dark guy, but refuses to kill and use guns. coolest super hero if you ask me.
