Batman & Robin: Who's Really to Blame?

Basicly everything is wrong with Batman & Robin.

  • Wrong choice of actors.
  • To (Un-beleivable)
  • To childish
  • Robin was doing nothing but complaining throughout the entire movie
  • Batmobiel looks stupid
  • ??Alfred Gets Some made-up illness??
  • Batcave repaired from The Riddler's little bombs
  • Mr. Freeze's costume was too shiney and he looked like some sort of astronaut
  • This movie just plain gives batman and robin a bad name!!!!!!!!

This is not a criticism in any way, but I think this post illustrates the difference between what comic fans want in their movies and what movies fans want. To me, all those complaints are relatively minor. The problem with Batman & Robin is that the script is terrible, first and foremost. Then you have Shumacher's light-weight directing (he said on set, repeatedly, "remember, this is a cartoon,"). Arnie and Uma and Alicia are all embarassing. The production design is over-bearing, there is just waaaaay to much to take in, and most of it pinks and greens and flashing lights. The action scenes are so badly shot that it's hard to see who hit who (a problem Batman Begins also shares).

The problem with B&R is that it's style over substance to an extreme degree.
