Batman & Son, Assault on Arkham announced

I have to say, this was easily the most disappointing experience I had with a DC Animated Movie. But at least there was one highlight in it. I thought the scenes with Alfred were great.

What episodes did he do?

He wrote the screenplays for:

Batman: The Animated Series
- Perchance to Dream
- Read My Lips
- Showdown

The New Batman Adventures
- Critters

Superman: The Animated Series
- Identity Crisis

He also wrote the fantastic DC Showcase: Jonah Hex short.

While I was also highly disappointed by this movie, I thought Jason O'Mara continues to be a really good Batman, another highlight.

Apart from Critters which sucked, those are all aces episodes.

So i've finished watching Son Of Batman it's decent but one of the poorer DC animated movies. I hope Assault on Arkham is much better than this.

Did the animation for Son of Batman seem really choppy at points for anyone else or was it just something wrong with the version I was watching?

I noticed it too...it's a shame how much animation changed over the years to more blockier movements.

I can't help but to think of this.

I can't believe anyone thought Son of Batman was going to be decent at best. The trailer was just horrible, in my opinion. Soon after it hit the web, my expectations for the film dropped immensely. Seems like I dodged a huge bullet after all.

It's actually the first time I've watched one of the animated DC flicks and actually regretted it. I think this may be the first one that I don't purchase, which is saying something.

I really hope they step up their game going forward with this new continuity, because even though I enjoyed "War," it was pretty weak, and this one is working hard for a spot in the "worst thing to have the Batman brand on it" list. I do like O'mara's Batman though. Hopefully the next one they do, they actually adapt a story properly as opposed to throwing together random pieces of dog**** pretending to be an adaptation like they did with "Son of Batman."

Was all that bullet deflecting with swords actually in the comics, or did they just add it for the movie?

Before this movie I was hoping they would do an adaptation of Grant Morrisons Batman & Robin run eventually. Now though, I don't think I want to see Morrison get butchered again.

It sucks that their closest adaptation they have ever done is for something as weak as The Dark Knight Returns.

I also think the 75 minute running time severely limits what they can do with these movies. I don't understand why they have such a strict rule about the running times.

Well, it depends of how they use the time. Batman: Under the Red Hood was about that length and it still managed to get a lot done plot-wise and feel like a complete movie. The Wonder Woman movie, Superman vs. The Elite, and several other were also able to do this as well. As for why it's done, it's probably a matter of only having limited resources, budget, and time to make these movies. What I think that they need to do if to stop trying to adapt these longer storylines if they've only got limited time, because they inevitably have to cut a lot out. All-Star Superman had that problem. They avoided it with TDKR by splitting it into 2 movies.

I think that they're working on an adaptation of "Throne of Atlantis" at the moment.

There needs to be a Batman Beyond animated movie. Period.

I was willing to support Tucker when he got the promotion, but I'm not so sure if he's the right guy to steer the line forward.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold was the only thing he's done that was truly outstanding, but that was his baby and you could almost feel the passion he had for it. It's right where he wants to be... in a field of silver age wackiness. He's a well noted Dick Sprang fanatic.

I can't imagine he was thrilled about going from his dream job to the grim 'n' gritty stuff again.

I liked all of the blood, but overall the animation was terrible. Funny how much of a downgrade this is compared to episodes of BTAS in 1992.

The Batvoice was atrocious and Damian sounded like a little girl. Not a badass 8-10 yo he should be.

Talia also had some of the most gratuitous cleavage, I've ever seen.

Talia Mcboobies as I would like to call them. It's just patronizing if you get down to it.

I kept laughing at what Talia was wearing.

the quality of these films has sadly dropped since Timm's departure. Although I am generally a fan of anime I dont think its style suits batman/DC. Red Hood animated style was perfect.

I can pretty much guarantee if Warner Premier decided to do an new animated film on the DCAU, maybe a new Batman film in "the animated series" style, like mask of the phantasm, it would out sell everything they have released to date.

Its such a shame they don't want to go back to that.

I didn't have an issue with what Talia is wearing. Isn't she known for wearing that black body suit? My biggest issue is that almost everyone in this Movie acted like a damn idiot. That includes Batman, who should have been shredded to pieces by Croc, because he acted like a damn amateur.

There's nothing wrong with body suit. It was the amount of cleavage they were showing. Similar to what they do with Black Canary on Arrow. It's laughable when you think of the background of those characters.

Another funny thing is how strong Damien seemed to be. I can understand how a highly trained kid could take on someone with less training, but there were moments where in terms of strength, it didn't make much sense.

Because there's no precedent at all for it in the comics or cartoon. At least Arrow's Canary doesn't wear fishnets.

It was ridiculous that Ubu couldn't overpower Damian. I don't care how well trained he is. A mountain of muscle like Ubu, should overpower every freaking 10 year old on this planet. I can't believe Damian actually pushed him back with his sword.

No, that stuff's laughable too. More so in live-action.

Also, Damien somehow still being able to use his hands like nothing happened after getting stabbed through his forearms.

He's overpowered, just like his dad.

About the end.

Was I the only one who didn't buy Damian's change of heart at all? He's blood thirsty the entire Movie, and at the end he spares Deathstroke's life, with the silly line that he is his father's son.
