Batman & Son, Assault on Arkham announced

Have to agree with a lot, since bruce timm hasn't been putting his stamp on things, quality has really taken a nose dive, I find we are getting more and more like marvels dtv than what DC in my opinion is known for.

As for the animation CGI is really expensive, and if im not mistaken the resident evil cgi's lost money, or barely made anything.

of course I'd love it, but I understand why they didn't. :D

I don't feel they captured the jokers look in this from the games very well either so far.

I understand they want to sell them in line with the comics, I just don't feel the stories are strong enough in this line of the comics. not saying they are bad, there just not as memorable.

I guess if bane does make an appearance he will be the hulking one?

i was not overly impressed by JL War or Son of Batman. War isn't horrible tho, i watch it all the time, because it has some good character moments.

JL Flashpoint Paradox was amazing tho imo.

I can't wait for Throne of Atlantis

Despite some iffy designs, JL: The Flashpoint Paradox is the only one I was truly impressed with. The rest...

- Superman: Unbound
- Justice League: War
- Son Of Batman

... have all been rather bland or forgettable. They have their moments of course the the quality has definitely taken a nosedive.

I really like James Tucker, and following Bruce Timm wouldn't be easy for anybody, but he hasn't exactly been doing great in his new position. Hopefully the line finds it's groove again soon.

Since The Flashpoint Paradox I've not liked any of the animated movies. Thought Son of Batman was okay at best. and I hate that they're going to focus on New 52 comic arcs when it comes to these animations.

Way too many Johns stories being adapted and not even his better earlier stuff like GL:Rebirth. Morrison's JLA is far better to pull from than the crap with got with War. But the main problem is that they just don't know how to pace the features. They try and structure them like a film and it's all wrong. Timm's JL series was so much better at pacing with its 20 minute serialized format because it had a tighter mix of story, character and hit plenty of action beats. These films all drag because they try and pace them like live action.

I downloaded Batman and Son the other night because I heard so many negative things about it that I didn't want to fork out money for it in case it was bad.

Anyway the feedback was generally right. It was really bland. Not bad, just very meh. I enjoyed the young actor who did Damian, I thought he did a good job. But the story and general voice acting was very average and bland.

I'm surprised Assault on Arkham hasn't popped up on Itunes yet. Typically they come out earlier there don't they?

That's a huge turnoff to me as animating Morrison's Scrappy. Sometimes I wonder if Johns or Didiot is secretly blackmailing Tucker in order to shove the New 52 down everyone's throats

Batman & Son isn't New 52. The Arkham Games aren't New 52. The just-announced Bruce Timm movie "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" isn't New 52.

Agreed, The DC animation film have been sub-par since they adapted 52. I hope they bring back some of the classics.

I know you're right about the latter two, but Batman and Son is supposed to be part of the same New 52-esque continuity of JL:War and upcoming Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, all of which kind of tie into Flashpoint Paradox (though I think that one's kind of foggy in its connection if at all.)

Supposedly, the new formula is supposed to be two movies in a New DCAU, and one out of continuity.

My only real grudge against the new DCAU is that it's over reliant on recent stories and seems to so far have lackluster characterization (I'm looking at you Deathstroke and Darkseid).

The animation is just a counterpoint to Tim's house style and the early DVDs and Young Justice. It's stylized, but not particularly worse on its own.

Yeah, but the complaint was about adapting New 52 stories. The story it's based on pre-dated the New 52 by at least 4 years. There's not really anything New 52 about it besides the costume and guy playing Batman. It's just a movie that wasn't that good.

I liked Assault on Arkham, it was surprisingly funny. Joker's "Best gun ever." line had me rolling...seriously, that part was hilarious. And I actually felt somewhat of a connection with the Suicide Squad, so I was sad when
King Shark died.

However, I do think they made Joker more physical than he's supposed to be. All of that flipping, dishing out and taking insane amounts of damage didn't seem like the character. Other than that, the Joker was a treat to have around.

If DC/WB's going to make animated movies based on the New 52, I wish they'd make one based on Grant Morrison's first Action Comics storyline with the t-shirt and jeans wearing Superman.

The last two solo Superman DTV's struggled to sell very well... so the earliest to hope for more solo Superman will be 2016.

They seem to be on a Justice League/Batman kick. But then, they are the ones that sell.

This was really good, a lot better than Son of Batman and War. It was pretty funny, something I wasn't really expecting. King Shark was a really cool character in this, I knew nothing about him before.

I think they got Boomerang perfect in this, a character you loved to hate. You just knew he was a little **** and going to be a pain in the ass for the rest of the team (deadshot especially)

I just finished Assault on Arkham overall it was good. I want's expecting that much violence or sexual content (Halrey & Deadshot sex, Nude killer frost) heck Walker dropping a mother F.

The action was spot on, Batman was freaking badass

Assault on Arkham is probably one of the best DC animation. Good animation, excellent character treatment, mature themes, really funny jokes and moments overall, intricate story and LOTS of cameos.
For a DC fan like me, this was like a dream come true.
If they keep the tone of this for future movies, it will be excellent.

Also I loved how menacing the Batman presence felt through the eyes of the villains. He's truly an unstoppable force!

And.. of course, one cannot dislike Harley :D

Solid movie, loved the cameos, hated the ending. Never felt resolved :(, however, that's not a terrible thing with this one, as it leaves open for more!

Arkham universe seems to be a good place to write for at the moment, great to see all the cameos, the deaths, etc., over all one of my favorites.

Well Harley and Deadshot had sex in the New 52 Suicide Squad book (or at least tried to, they might have been interrupted). So hearing that it happens in the movie doesn't really surprise me.

Great bounce back from JL War and Son of Batman

Deadshot was MVP of the movie. Joker stole every scene he was in and Batman was badass as usual
