Batman's Cowl Face

I'm gonna have to go with Keaton in Batman Returns. Just looked so effortlessly bad-ass.

You're just a sucker for the lips. haha

I think Bale's Batman's furrowed lips and chin is equally intimidating.

These two pics to me are my favorite "in the cowl" pics!

That is literally the best picture I've ever seen of any actor dressed as Batman. Maybe partly because the lighting makes his mask look almost blue. I mean, that IS Batman.

this is a good cowl pic similar to the one up above I found over at the Batman Movie Online forum!

This is why Keaton is the better Batman.

This is why Keaton is the better Batman.
And what is that exactly?

LOL

Burton chose to light Keaton in a way that enhanced his limited physical features to make him believable and menacing.

It was a fantastical approach to Batman, and the lighting was as such. It was designed to enhance Keaton's precense.

In a real world context, he'd actually look terrible as Batman. And that's when you know Bale is the more bad ass Batman. He looks intimidating in real world structures, buildings, and lighting.

Look at him in the scene in the parking garage in TDK. Keaton wouldn't look that good in that lighting especially given his physicality standing next to the beefy dudes in that scene.

That's why Bale's the perfect storm as Batman. He looks good in REAL SETTINGS. Imagine what he'd look like in Burton's fantastical, gothic setting with lighting that just accentuates his best features. He'd look even cooler.

I mean for me personally, Bale made Bruce look intimidating. Check the scene where he knocks the **** out of the clown thug at his party. The look on his face, he looks bad ass without dramatic lighting, or even a Bat cowl for christ sakes.

I still have a hard time understanding people who try to bring Batman into the "real world" and use this as a basis for their aguments.

Batman isnt real. Hes a fictional, fantasy character.

What he says.

Don't get me wrong, Keaton still rocks it.

I'll let you answer yourself

Thanks for saving me the time.

LOL

That and the acting makes Keaton a great Batman. Better than Bale? I wouldn't bother since Bale was great too. Except for a few issues with the voice and the tight cowl's mouth.

In a real world context, he'd actually look terrible as Batman.

In the real world, any guy in a rubber suit with a cape wouldn't look menacing without a big share of laughability.

And that's when you know Bale is the more bad ass Batman. He looks intimidating in real world structures, buildings, and lighting.

Like... you have seen Bale in bat-suit yourself?

Look at him in the scene in the parking garage in TDK.

Yes... so?

As any other scene of any other movie, it has been lightened the proper way so everything looks cool within the frame.

You don't think they just put the cameras and start rolling with natural lightning right?

Keaton wouldn't look that good in that lighting especially given his physicality standing next to the beefy dudes in that scene.

Yes he would since the armour suit with msucles on was designed for that very purpose. Mr. Normal guy turns into Mr. Superhero. Nolan, naturally, was wise in keeping the same black rubber armoured suit concept.

That's why Bale's the perfect storm as Batman.

I'd say he's perfect because his acting is fantastic.

He looks good in REAL SETTINGS.

You mean real fake Hollywood sets with special light, filters and everything every movie has.

Imagine what he'd look like in Burton's fantastical, gothic setting with lighting that just accentuates his best features. He'd look even cooler.

Are you saying that Burton's movies looked cooler or are more appropiate for Bale?

I mean for me personally, Bale made Bruce look intimidating. Check the scene where he knocks the **** out of the clown thug at his party. The look on his face, he looks bad ass without dramatic lighting, or even a Bat cowl for christ sakes.

True.

Keaton looked intimidating too when he faced the Joker.

But I still prefer Batman to be the intimidating side of Bruce not Bruce himself.

Keaton was my favorite till the Baleman came along. Now I like them both equally.

I gotta say Keaton looks leaps and bounds above Bale as far as cowl shots go. It's like everyone has said though it's all in the lighting. Also I love when Batman looked roughed up in the cathedral scene. I wish they would have showed more of that with Bale. Idk maybe its Keatons mouth lol. I might be a sucker for it too.
