Battle Royale Being Remade?!?!?!?!?!

ok SO i was over at Aint it Cool news and coming soon and its being reported that the Japanese film, Battle Royale is being remade for the American Audience through New Line Cinema. No word on directors or screenwriters,etc. Now im a lil aggrivated with America remaking some really good asian films especially with this one. Battle Royale needs to be shown and seen as it orignated and i find the movie fine the way it is. Many things can go right and wrong. One right being the dialogue and possibly the action will be a little more sophisticated (if done right) BUT the wrong that could happen is obviously a abd translation of the film overall and i have a strange feeling this movie is going to make the movie more about the violence (think of promoting or making the movie in the nature of Hostel) rather than the character interaction/development.

I dunno...for the people who have seen Battle Royale what do u think?

I will agree, they're going to have to make sure the violence is in a similar context to the original. As I said on another board, knowing New Line, they won't go the PG-13 route.

And someone needs to get stabbed in the balls like the original, too!

I've resigned myself to accepting that every movie that I have come to love will eventually get remade or get the Hollywood treatment. I just hope that they make the movie a hard R. I don't wanna go watch/rent a PG-13 version of Battle Royale. It would seem like a complete waste if it were the case.

that's an interesting fact, I bet that before soon, the MTV movie awards will have the award for "Best Remake", "Best Remake Actor/Actress" for actors that appear in constant remakes (Liev Schreiber would be a prime nominee) and other siimilar awards

I had always heard rumblings about a possible remake, but I really see no need and hope they never go through with it.

Why do they need to remake it? The film is a fantastic representation of modern cinema. If people want to see a movie with that storyline, watch the original, don't bloody remake it just to appease people who won't watch Asian Cinema.

Ok when Americans remake Japanese movies, for example, The Ring, The Grudge and Dark Water it's normally bad. Well The Ring was kinda ok...I guess, but Battle Royale is next on the list of Japanese remakes. This could be a fun, gore/popcorn flick or a ****-ass remake with blonde cheer leaders getting shot and blowen up. The worst part about this news is that director Neal Moritz is of course directing this flick. Neal Moritz had done some amazing movies such as The Fast and the Furious and xXx.....wait did I just say amazing movies?

Anyway, your thoughts?

More than likely won't be any kids in it. I want kids killing each other. I really wanted to remake this movie myself one day sense I like the movie I guess I won't get to now.

More than likely and it will be called batlle royale 2 battle harder. The world will hopefully end before that though.
