well the reason they didn't go that route is only one navy that can give the US a challenge...China is its name and since it is an emerging market(and lets be honest not many foreign markets jump at the chance to see the US blow up other countries) they decided against.

Well set in WWII then or something. Have a story about a US Battleship stranded in the Pacific with it's radar down or something. The Japanese Navy in pursuit. Something like that could be a really cool, tense thriller. More about the acting and tension, sense of claustrophobia and paranoia, than big explosions and CGI.
