Ben Affleck Confirms Live By Night as His Next Feature

It's like Ben Affleck just got done watching Boardwalk Empire...

Soldier comes back from war and becomes a gangster.

All he needs now is a guy with half of a face to be his partner in crime.

One of the Glenister brothers playing an Irish mobster.

Peaky Blinders as well.

We had a conscripted military so many gangsters were former soldiers in the first half of the 20th century.

Robert Richardson --that's the guy who won three Oscars for Best Cinematography (JFK, Hugo, and the Aviator). When I watched that trailer, the cinematography stood out to me and I suspected that it was by one of the top guy in the business.

Understanding the Cinematography of Robert Richardson:

Yep, no wonder. Cinematography is amazing indeed.

I've read the book. It's very good and I can definitely see why Affleck wanted to direct this. If he does his job right, it can be even better than the book.

He seems to be a big Dennis Lehane fan. Also between this and The Neon Demon, Elle Fanning looks amazing.

Fanning wasn't a standout in TND (not her fault, other actresses had better written roles) but apparently she plays very interesting character here

I was talking visually/the way that she carries herself.

This looks good, but I feel the same way about it that I did about Argo and The Town - I'd be more interested if Affleck cast a better actor than himself as the lead. I just don't completely buy most of his performances, even in his own films. Gone Baby Gone remains my favorite film of his because of this.

i know i hope he casts a good actor for batman in the solo film:o

Batman's one of the few recent roles he's played that I thought he fit really well.

I also always said he isn't a really good actor. But his angry and bitter Batman is spot on. Sometimes you just fit the role like a glove and you don't have to play it much.

I've seen far too many roles of his that I've enjoyed to call him a bad actor. Yes, including those two other directorial efforts of his. So I have no problems with his casting here, nor do I think that he looks "out of place."

Zoe Saldana's role in this also intrigues me, I wonder what her character's deal is?

Looks beautiful, but it didn't want me to go see it... if that makes sense.

I'm still not too sure what the plot is based on the trailers. Affleck does not interest me too much as a director or actor.

Robert Richardson's magical touch. Looks stunning.

The look of the film is fantastic and the action looks great as well, but Affleck looks miscast.
