Based off performance, characterization, and/or general influence and impact.

Tough.

For me, it's between TDKR, WW and Joker.

It's a bit easier to answer performance and characterization at this point than influence and impact.

It's still too soon for me to say which of the 2010s films will be influential or impactful. I don't think enough time has passed to really judge those things with TDKR, WW or Joker.

WW is certainly a landmark in terms of female led superhero films. Yes ,there were others long before WW , but none of them were cultural milestones they way the first WW film was. I suppose we can assume that other female led superhero films will follow and that the WW films may inspire execs to tell more female led superhero films.

The Joker certainly opens the door to villain focused films , even though it wasn't the first villain focused film. So in that respect the genre may expand, assuming other studios take that route.

TDKR certainly has made Bane a pop culture figure, but I can't say at this point whether TDKR in itself, as opposed to being part of a trilogy, has influenced or impacted Hollywood or the cbm genre.

Which is the best based off of performance and generalization?

For me, it's a coin toss between WW and TDKR.

I would probably have a different answer depending what day you asked me.

This thread isn't about the films themselves, its about the heroes that star in the films.

Oh, I see. I read it wrong. My bad.

Even still though, it's hard to answer your last two questions about impact and influence even talking about the heroes. It's still too soon imo.

Maybe Bale between and Gadot would fall into best characterization and performance with TDKR and WW.

Again, even if the subject is just the heroes, it's still between the performances and characterizations those two films for me at least. Phoenix certain deserves praise and has won an Oscar so, that can't be discounted.

I like Mera the best, overall. I guess Bale wins for best performance.

I'd have to say Wonder Woman based solely off of the 2017 film. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot did a great job at bringing the character to life in the DCEU's first generally positive received film.

Aquaman and Shazam are honorable mentions just because of how enjoyable those characters are to watch.

I was tempted to say Batman from TDKR because of the goodwill of the trilogy but if I'm being honest, Batman Begins had the best characterization of the character.

If we are talking impact and influence of the character 'alone', has to be :ww:

Honestly for me the best hero of the last decade was Shazam.

This is a tough call between Supes and Aquaman. I went with Cav-El even though the DCEU's Superman's time on screen is a little truncated. However, kudos to Momoa and WB for finally getting that character off the ground.

I want to say Superman - Henry Cavill, but that wouldn't be true.

The clear winner, to me, is Wonder Woman because it had such an impact and made a believer out of skeptics like myself.

Bale's Batman was at his peak in 2008, and on his way out in 2012 - it was a swansong, but didn't hit quite the heights that WW does. Because he's wayyy back in 2012 I don't really think of him as a hero of this decade.

Green Lantern is a film I try to forget about.

So my top 5.

1. Wonder Woman, a really difficult character to pull off, but they succeeded. She appeared in 3 films in short succession she really got a lot of exposure, which lifts the characters profile.

2. Shazam, kind of a B list goofy Superman, but boy that movie is fun and the characters are likeable, Shazam himself is really well done.

3. Superman ( hey, I like Man of Steel and his appearances in Justice League). Got the characterization a bit wrong, but we finally see Superman really punch someone ( and in TAS and the comics he solves a lot of problems that way)

4. Aqua-bro: well on paper he's got all the same story elements as Aquaman, but in execution he's nothing like him - maybe the character had to be changed in order to succeed. A loud, dumb film that rides on Jason Momoa's charm and muscles - but hey it made Aquaman a household name so that's okay.

5. Bale's Batman - because he's on the periphery of the decade.

Where are all my Jonah Hex people at?

Nowhere? Ah okay. That makes sense.

I'm really happy to see Bales Batman in the lead.

He's more than just "the Bat Voice"

Wonder Woman by far. I like how the most recent movie pays homage to the Linda Carter's depiction that really brings the character back to her roots for how people remember her while providing something new.

Numerous different depictions with Gal Gadot under different creative guidance really makes her portrayal resonate.
