I wish we could still do polls.

for me, it was definitely Jack Black’s Bowser in Super Mario Brothers. What a revelation! Although Melissa McCarthy in The Little Mermaid was also excellent. Also, shout out to Arlong in the One Piece series because he was great!

I second the High Evolutionary from GOTG Vol. 3. Just a downright irredeemable bastard.

Godzilla from Minus One comes in at a close second.

As far as CBMs go, definitely High Evolutionary.

But overall, it's gotta be De Niro as William Hale in KOTFM. "Banality of evil" gets tossed around a lot thematically, but I've very rarely seen it so terrifyingly embodied as it is with Hale. Just the sheer shamelessness of it all as he lays such profoundly disturbed plans while fully selling that he doesn't believe he's doing anything wrong. Pure evil delusion of a man who thinks of lives only as means for profit. Masterful work from De Niro proving he's still got it after all these years.

It’s been a great year for villains honestly

Scourge from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is also another good villain this year.

Dinklage plays him delightfully evil and it's real satisfying when Prime finally defeats him.

Hale earns a special spot up there simply for being an actual real evil person.
