Cast The Movie Adaptation

Okay, here is my cast for a film update of Brisco County Jr. You'll notice that I pick actors who actually fit their role and aren't just whatever random Smallville actor/popular franchise star/wrestler/midget that pops into my head.

Here’s my cast.

Brisco County Jr. – John Krasinki. He can play that sort of airy, lighter hero well I think. He is a decent enough actor and has good comedic timing for the role.

Lord Bowler – Michael Clarke Duncan. Duncan has a good comedic presence as seen on shows like Chuck and films like The Whole Nine Yards and being as Bowler's job is to be a comedic foil to Brisco as well as large and physically intimidating, Duncan fits the role perfectly.

Socrates Poole – Sean Astin. He is a great actor, would actually be available for the role and has a great look ad personality for it.

John Bly – Steve Buscemi. I can think of no one better for the role. Bly is a bad ass without looking it in the least. Despite not being physically imposing he has to be intimidating able to give off a presence of being dominant and a force to be reckoned with. No one can pull that off like Buscemi.

Gillian Jacobs – Britta from Community has a good look for the role, the right kind of attitude for the part and would be all around good in it. Alternatively, I think it is also a role that fits Krasinski’s co-star Jenna Fischer well.

The Professor – John Lithgow. Nutty, eccentric, inventor/Brisco’s mentor, he’d have all kinds of fun with this role channeling his inner-Dick Solomon.

Pistol Pete – Will Forte. Forte may not be a leading man, but he is funny enough in small, over the top roles which is exactly what Pete was.

Lee Pow – No reason that James Hong couldn’t continue with the role.

Brisco County Sr. – This is the perfect role for the original Brisco County Jr., Bruce Campbell.

Never actually watched the show so I'll have to take your word for it.

Dracula

1. Dracula - Jackie Earle Haley
2. Jonathon Harker - Michael Sheen
3. Van Helsing - John Hurt
4. Mina Murray - Amy Adams
5. Lucy Westenra - Gemma Arterton
6. John Seward - Tom Hardy
7. Arthur Holmwood - Michael Fassbender
8. Quincey Morris - Josh Holloway
9. Renfield - Sharlto Copley

Oh, I like that casting! Especially if they base the script more closely on the book than that crap with Keanu & Winona.

Copley would make a great Rienfeld. I'd also love to see Ian McShane as Van Helsing.

Someone pointed out to me that Mark Strong would be a better choice for Dracula than JEH, and Josh Brolin as Morris instead of Holloway, and I think they may just be right.

A 5 foot 4 Dracula? I love Jackie Earle but really guys...that is how you follow up the 6'5 Sir Christopher Lee.

Final Fantasy VI (as a two part movie)

Terra - Mia Wasikowska
Locke - Jamie Campbell Bower
Celes - Amanda Seyfried
Edgar - Travis Van Winkle
Sabin - Christopher Egan
Cyan - Tony Leung Chiu Wai
Shadow - Donnie Yen
Gau - Josh Hutcherson
Setzer - Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Strago - Stephen Chow
Relm - Kylie Goldstein

Kefka - Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Leo - Sean Bean
Cid - Bill Nighy
Emperor Gestahl - Ciaran Hinds

I'd like to see Star Wars: Force Unleashed with Sam Worthington as Starkiller and Julia Stiles as Juno Eclipse.

dont know if this counts but i am just going to post it anyway.

Robert De Niro as Carl Fredricksen

Cast this kid as Russell and we've got ourselves a movie:

realliferussellfromup.jpg

lol where did you find this kid, he's perfect :wow:

Yikes. Thundarr, I am very happy that you do not make movies. All you'd make are remakes filled with Tom Welling and adaptations filled with wrestlers and coke addicts. :oldrazz: :cwink:

Yes, good point. TV actors should all just commit suicide after their shows are finished/cancelled; Robert Downey Jr was just awful in the Iron Man movies; and the best choices for portraying huge muscular characters are lanky actors like Jim Carrey or tubs of lard like Oliver Platt.

Okay, here is my cast for a film update of Brisco County Jr. You'll notice that I pick actors who actually fit their role and aren't just whatever random Smallville actor/popular franchise star/wrestler/midget that pops into my head.

For your information, I do the same thing. If you noticed while casting adaptations of comics, biographies, and TV shows, I post comparitive pictures of the actors right next to the characters I think they should portray. Can you honestly tell me that Verne Troyer is not the spitting image of Dungeon Master? Or that Christopher Walken wouldn't make for one scary ass Venger? Jack Black and Mick Foley look like twin brothers from different mothers (plus Jack actually went to wrestling school to prepare for his role in Nacho Libre, which I highly respect having been a wrestler myself).

It's a little tougher doing the same for fictional novel adaptations, unless it's a series of novels and there are a plethora of characters depicted in the cover art. But if you ever read the novels in question, and try picturing the actors I've suggested in those roles, you'll see many of them are perfect fits.

And as for casting "any random midget that pops into my head", they aren't random. I happen to read a lot of fantasy adventure novels. That means a lot of stories where the characters are halflings, dwarves, and gnomes. And I feel the best people to cast in these roles are midgets (for the halflings and gnomes) and dwarfs (for the dwarves). I will grant you that I do tend to cast the same little people over and over, but that's only because of the shortage (no pun intended) of actors of the correct height. Most famous/well known little people are either actors (such as Verne Troyer and Warwick Davis), wrestlers (such as Hornswoggle and Short Sleave Sampson), or porn stars (such as Bridget Powers and Napolien). Now I could list the roles as "unknown midget actor", but that kinda misses the whole point of the thread. Any TV show, comic book, cartoon, novel, etc, could cast all unknowns in every role in order to save money. That's not the point. The point is for us fans to cast who we feel would do the role justice.

Okay, I've gone back and updated my casting selections. I didn't actually change my selections, but I did write out why I made my choices. So go back and reread them. I think you might find they make more sense.

He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe

Jonathan Frakes as King Randor
Jonathan%20Frakes-1.jpg
king_randor.png

Johnathan Frakes is a good actor, director, is well known, liked in the film community, and really looks the part. Plus he's the perfect age to play the father of a rebelious teenager. If they were to make the beginning of the movie like the opening of Episode One of the series, then they can have him shave off the beard and cover up his grey for Captain Randor of The Eternian Defendors. Then later when he's King Randor Of Eternia, he would have the full beard and mustache (obviously the Captain Randor scenes will be filmed last).

Sharon Stone as Queen Marlena
Sharon.Stone.Ageless.2005.jpg
char_5980.jpg

Queen Marlena should be beautiful and elegant, yet mature enough to be the mother of a rebelios teenager. Sharon Stone is a great actress, she's beautiful, and she looks the part.

Sam Eliot as Man-At-Arms
Sam%20Elliott.jpg
man-at-arms.jpg

Duncan, aka "Man-At-Arms, is King Randor's oldest friend. He's a brilliant inventor, a skilled tactician, and mentor to many of the Masters Of The Universe. He needs to be played by someone who can be tough, yet sensitive. If you look at his performance in movies like Road House, Sam Eliot fits that description to a T.

Cate Blanchett as The Sorceress
39309.jpg

Cate Blanchett is a fabulous actress and a timeless beauty. Her role as Galadriel in LOTR was dead on. And as that's the type of character The Sorceress is, she should be played by an actress who is proven to be good in such roles. And as the sorceress is immortal, she needs to be played by an actress who's beauty is timeless. Cate Blanchett is perfect.

(There are too many characters to fit them all on one post, so i will have to do multiple posts to get them all.)

Verne Troyer as Orko
VerneTroyer.jpg
orco.jpg

For one thing, Verne's voice already naturally sounds a lot like Orko's. For another, being a little person means minimal CGI. Just do him up in an Orko costume with lots of practical prosthetic make up, hook him up to wires, dangle him in front of a green screen, then digitally insert him in post production, rather than creating him 100% CG.

Hayden Christensen as Prince Adam
letmein-hayden.jpg
he-man_5.jpg

Actually, I think an unknown teen actor would probably be a better idea. But I don't know any unknown teen actors, that's what makes them unknown. But physically, Hayden totally fits the part. Plus he's from Vancouver, and I gotta support my fellow Canucks.

Tyler Mane as He-Man

mane01.jpg
hemanbig1.jpg

He's got the size. He's got the build. He's got the acting chops. He's got the long blonde hair. And he's got the right look. What more need I say?

Elisha Cuthbert as Teela
Elisha+Cuthbert.jpg
150249-48654-teela_large.jpg

Probably a little too old to play a teenager any more, but when she filmed The Girl Next Door she would've been perfect. A more realistic choice might be Dakota Fanning, but I gotta support my fellow Canadians.

Christopher Walken as Skeletor

It's Christopher Freakin' Walken! 'Nuff said!

Ron Perlman as Beastman

Is there anyone better for gluing s#!t to his face and making him look like an animal? A doubt it. Ron Perlman is DA MAN!

Angelina Jolie as Evil-Lyn

Evil-Lyn.jpg

She totally looks the part, she's a great actress, she is excellent at playing a femme fatale, and she's totally hot. Need I say more?

Brian Thompson as Merman

Merman_final_low+res.jpg

Who better to play a fish man than Ol' Fish Face himself?

Richard Kiel as Trapjaw
rkcolor.jpg
trapjaw.jpg

Could there be a better Trapjaw than Jaws from the Bond films? He might be kinda old. But with all that prosthetic make up on, who'll be able to tell? Besides, the character has a prosthetic arm and a prosthetic leg, so his difficulty moving would actually fit.

Gary Oldman as Triclops

triclopsnu8.jpg

Of all of Skeletor's henchmen, Triklops is the most intelligent (next to Evil-Lyn of course). His skill with the blade and his optic blasts make him a very dangerous opponent. Gary Oldman is very good at playing sinister, intelligent characters. This makes him perfect for a role like Triklops.

Michael Ironside as Whiplash

michael-ironside-pic.jpg
302999-21807-whiplash_large.jpg

Michael Ironside's bread & butter is playing villains. And much like Ron Perlman and Brian Thompson, he has a great face for gluing s#!t onto it. He usually plays more intelligent characters, but I think he may enjoy changing things up and playing a big dumb brute for once.

No way in hell should Tyler Mane ever be He-Man. The guy is not a leading man at all. And why would you cast someone like Gary Oldman for a minor role like Triclops? I would cast him for Skeletor if anything.

Obviously you've never seen How To Make A Monster. His performance as Hardcore in that movie proves to me that Tyler Mane has the potential to play a leading man. He's just never been given the oportunity, as he's always cast as silent killers and thoughtless brutes like Michael Myers and Sabretooth.

And my vision of Triklops is different from the 80's cartoon, or even the 2003 reboot. He'd be more like Blade in the Dolph Lundgren He-Man movie, Skeletor's field commander and tactician.

I don't know. To me, Tyler Mane looks nothing like He-Man, plus at 43, I think he's too old to play him anyway.

He looks as much like He-Man as Dolph Lundgren did. And Tyler Mane has aged quite well since he played Sabretooth. Besides, if Stallone can still play Rambo at sixty some odd years of age, certainly Tyler Mane (who's twenty years Stallone's junior) can play He-Man.

He-Man shouldn't be that old, though. At least Lundgren was only about 30 when he played him.

batmanbeyond.jpg

The plot would be a blend of the episodes "A New Beginning" (aka: Batman Beyond The Animated Movie); "Meltdown" (where Batman is introduced to Blight for the first time, but minus the part about Mr. Freeze); and "Ascention" (where Terry learns that Derec Powers and Blight are one and the same and they have their final battle on a nuclear submarine).

Bruce Wayne: Clint Eastwood

clint-eastwood-picture-1.jpg

Really, is there anyone better suited to playing and aged, bitter, and cranky Bruce Wayne than Clint Eastwoon?

Terry McGinnis/Batman: David Henrie
terryisthenewalteregoofbatman.jpg
disney-celebrity-david-henrie.jpg

Honestly, I did try to find a teen actor who's not from the Disney Channel. Unfortunately they are too few and far between. However, this kid does look the part. He may just have to pack on some serious muscles before shooting starts.

Warren McGinnis: George Clooney (a wink and a nod to earlier Batman films)
char_302.jpg
george-clooney.jpg

George Clooney is actually quite a good actor, Batman & Robin was just a terribly poorly written and directed movie. This role is quite small, as the character is killed off early in the story. But I think Clooney can nail it.

Harry Tully: Michael Keaton (a wink and a nod to earlier Batman films, no character picture available)
michael-keaton.jpg

This is Warren McGinnis' friend from work, who gives Warren the stolen plans for the biological weapons that Derec Powers is producing in the lab where they work. It's a very small role, but a very important one.

Dana Tan: Selena Gomez
200px-Dana_Tan_DCAU_001.jpg
selena_gomez.jpg

I hate going the Disney Channel route again. Ten years ago, I would have said Katie Holmes. Maybe Kristen Kruek. A few years ago I even said Megan Fox. However, all of these actresses are too old to play highschool students anymore. Thus I chose Selena Gomez. She looks a lot like the character, she's still a teenager, and she's a decent actress. She may feel kinda weird about making out with her brother from Wizards Of Waverly Place though.

Mary McGinnis: Michelle Pfieffer (a wink and a nod to earlier Batman films)
char_10765.jpg
michelle-pfeiffer.jpg

Aside from her previous Batman movie experience (in which she was awsome), she's also a great actress. And she's still gorgeous after all these years. She also really looks the part.

Matt Mcginnis: Unknown
As I can only post ten pictures, I chose to not even bother with a character picture on this one. As I can't think of any actors the right age with the right look, I'm leaving this one blank. Besides, the kid'll likely be too old by the time the movie gets made anyway.

Derec Powers/Blight: Patric Stewart
Blight.gif
600full-patrick-stewart.jpg

Patrick Stewart is an excellent character actor, who can play sinister with a subtle malice that makes him perfect for this role.

Mr. Fixx: Tom "Tiny" Lister Jr.
275px-Mr._Fixx.jpg
6a00ccff855d15985d00fad69ec7f10005-500pi

"Tiny" and Mr. Fixx look practically identical. Tom even is blind in one eye (an injury from his days as a Hollywood stunt man). And it's a character with few lines. There are a few others who might also be good in this role (Ving Rhames and Michael Clarke Duncan both spring to mind), but "Tiny" is my favorite for this particular role.

Maxine "Max" Gibson: Shanica Knowles
Maxmodel.gif
shanica-knowles-photo.jpg

Again I have to go the Disney route. My original pick was Tatiana Ali from Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, but she might be too old to play a highschool student anymore. Cut Shanika's hair short and dye it pink, and you've got Max. Besides, it's a fairly minor role in this film, though it may grow in importance in any sequels.

Chelsea Cunninghan: Emily Osment
char_10761.jpg
emilyosment.jpg

Again going the Disney route. But Chelsea is such a minor character, as Dana's best friend, that a really well known actress isn't that important. Still, she should at least look the part. And in that respect, Emily Osment fits the bill perfectly.
