hi everyone, let’s talk about the best genre there is. Science fiction! Poll incoming!

Bright is science fiction?

I'll need to think on this. But for now:

Annihilation
Arrival
Blade Runner 2049
Ex Machina
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Martian
War for the Planet of the Apes
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Bright is science fiction?

Nah, it's a teen romance drama based on realistic day to day life of ordinary people, like a documentary on real life world events involving magic, orcs and supernatural beings.
Come on, seriously ?

Infinity War

I almost didn’t put it in because technically it’s not really science fiction. Like the plot is not really about science, it’s just high present day set fantasy. Like the infinity glove doesn’t have any technical basis. But I knew people would kick off if I didn’t so there it is

Yeah it has a spaceship in it lol that's the logic im using.

Probably just my favourite film of the ones on the list.

I'm going with the ones on the list I'd consider pure sci-fi, so Blade runner 2049.

Narrowed down to five:

Annihilation
Arrival
Blade Runner 2049
Ex Machina
War for the Planet of the Apes

The Martian, without any shadow of a doubt.
Followed by Passengers and Blade Runner 2049.

Blade Runner : 2049, without a moment's hesitation. One of the finest sci-fi films, not just in the specified time frame, but of all time, an outstanding film in it's own right and a superb sequel & continuation of a equally amazing first film.

First, great poll idea, all respect to the OP.

Having said that, and I apologise for nitpicking , but IMO most of those film aren't really science fiction. While a lot of them have sci fi settings or elements they are not what I would call sci fi. I understand if others see things differenty, but that's just my view.

Alien Covenant is horror with a sci fi setting.

Star Wars is really Fantasy dressed up as Sci Fi and I would suggest that GOTGs are similar.

Fury Road, while one of the greatest action movies ever IMO is just an action/chase movie with a post apocalyptic setting.

Star Trek is close, but not quite as it really is about the action and personal relationships

I'm a bit old school when I think of sci fi, as in Isaac Asimov old school. I wouldn't call most of Ray Bradbury's work sci fi ( although its awesome).

As such I'll go with the Martian with distant second and third to Blade Runner 2049 and Passengers.

I haven't see the Blade Runner films (yes I'll get onto it) but I have to say The Martian is a superb film. Ridley Scott back on form and the most beautiful, vivid and realistic depiction of Mars I've yet seen.

Dang, Ex Machina didn't make the cut.
Of the ones in 2015, I have seen:
