Best Superhero Trilogy

what is the world coming to when people are voting on trilogies that haven't even been complete yet

and i mean batman is an anthology rather than a trilogy

the only superhero trilogies are x-men and blade at this moment in time.

however if we can take the first three films of any franchise extending that long then definitely batman, batman forever and batman returns.

it pukes over definitely the marvel 'trilogies' and just beats the first three superman films because the third one is really quite bad, except for the bad superman vs clark fight.

Actually I do think that the Dark Pheonex Saga could not be done on screen to the scope of that of the comics, obviously. But I would think you could make it more accomidating.

I think Emma Frost should have been introduced instead of the stupid and pointless Callisto. I would have her help manipulate Jean Grey for Magneto and him use her as his primary weapon (which they stgarted). But she should have been torn and indeed go too far and become a threat that even Magneto would agree needs to be stopped. And we would get inside her head and she would be the main plot and not some stupid rehash of the first two movies (a cure is a great idea, but it was used as merely a boring mcguffin here), and they would be able to bring her back far enough that Cyke would have hope but when she is about to break free again he would kill her.

Her destruction would be limited and not planets obviously. But I wouldn't have her go fully bad until the end nor do I think that she should play second fiddle for most of the "climax" to characters such as a watered down and completely boring Juggernaut (the internet joke is great, love the cartoon, but for them to quote in the movie....ehhh.).

But I'm just rambling. That isn't what we got. We got this mess of a movie that will leave a bad stain on Singer's far superior movies. Oh well.

And yes I found the music incredibly cheesy. It baffled me that they did not use the themes or at least parts of John Ottoman's score instead of this cheesy reycled music which is worse than the Fantastic Four music (which was by Ottoman and horrid in a really horrible horrendous and h....you get the picture.

Obviousely X-Men is the best Superhero trilogy, simply because IMO it's the only good one so far. It managed to last the duration of 3 films without falling into suckdome, and now it gets to join the "great trilogy club".

I don't think it really can join "the great trilogy club." That is reserved for movies like SW, LOTR, BTTF, Indy Jones, The Godfather, etc. because while all of those have their not quite as good a one (ROTJ, TTT, BTTF2, The Temple of Doom) they all had been good if not great movies.

I feel the X-Men series is closer to the Terminator trilogy (but far more disappointing as X2 left room for a great sequel) than those.

This is the X-Men trilogy in a nutshell. We got Star Wars. Wow a superhero movie that doesn't suck! How amazing. That was cool. Oh look now we get The Empire Strikes Back! AWESOME. Even better than the first! It is bigger, better written and ends on such an amazing cliffhanger and really pulles the heart strings. The third is going to be amazing. And then when we go into theatres for the third one we are expecting Return of the Jedi....and we get Episode I.

That is the X-Men trilogy. And it could have ben SOOOOOOOO good.

Actually, I was expecting a "Star Trek 3" but got a "Return of the Jedi". While I would have prefered a "Return of the King", I thought X3 was a very good movie and did an excellent job of finishing what they started with the first one. I guess that might just mean I liked the movie a lot more than you did. :p

I would not compare it to Terminator 3. Terminator 3 was not really as good as the first two, but it was an enjoyable romp. X-Men 3 had a lot to live up to, and IMO it pulled it off. It wasn't quite as good as the second movie, but it was at least as good as the first one, and gave the trilogy a solid conclusion. Terminator 3 seemed more like they were just trying to have more fun with the franchise and set things up for a fourth movie.

And example of a poor trilogy would be The Matrix. They were off with a great start, then they did a sequel that wasn't quite as good as the first one, but it was still cool and seemed bigger and fancier. But then the third one was even further from the greatness of the first, and it had a very dissapointing conclusion (I mean come on, they didn't defeat the machines!). They went from great, to pretty good, to poor.

Here's how I'd rate the trilogies I've seen.

Star Wars trilogy: Great, Great, good
Star Wars prequels: So-so, pretty good, good
Terminator: Good, great, so-so
Indiana Jones: Great, so-so, great
The Matrix: Great, pretty good, poor
Back to the Future: Great, so-so, great
X-Men: Good, great, good
Lord of the Rings: Great, good, really great

That's how I call 'em. With the Godfather I've only seen the first one, so I can't comment. Many people seem to be of the opinion that Part 3 was crap though.

nearly a billion bucks says your opinion is a minority.

So what? It just goes to show how easy it is for people to pay for crap and its not entirely their fault. The spidey movies kick ass when it comes to marketing nd advertising, so we see and expect an awesome movie. People buy their tickets and in my case, was a witness to bad writing, sloppy editing, choppy cgi and an overall ass-raping of the source material.:o
Figures mean nothing when compared to quality.

It has to be X-Men Trilogy so far and we haven't seen Singer's SR and Raimi's Spider-Man 3 or Nolan's Batman Trilogy.

X3 has,as I like to call it,broken the curse of bad third superhero movies.Yeah everyone is going to go ''wah wah Ratner sucks wah wah'' But I'll tell you what,I was more confident in him than I was Vaughn, who only made one movie and people praised him. HA. And Ratner is a very good director, especially with action. The action scenes in X3 blow Singer's action scenes in X1 and 2 out of the water. :o

I'd hardly call SR the third movie, even if it takes place after S2.:o

It all depends on if you believe continuity matters in determining a trilogy.

Even Singer refuses to call it a straight out sequel to Superman 2 so....

Ok? You just proved my point. He refuses to believe it as a sequel. He didnt say it outright, thats why he keeps using that "vague sequel" term.

Actually, right before he said that quote, he answered "yes" to the question of is SR a sequel to S2. He's not denying anything.

Ok, where is this interview, because lately hes been throwing out that vague sequel term like it was a dollar bill at a strip joint.

They used to throw around the vague sequel thing. Now they're just calling it Superman 3.

The interview was posted like 3 weeks ago in the SR boards, so...I'm not all that anxious to go looking for it. :o

Best superhero trilogy hmmm Im still waiting for a good third film to come from most of them. Most movies still fall under the curse of the 3rd movie.sigh:(

He actually keeps going back and forth on the matter.

Bryan Singer: The 2nd film is not in my history. It's not a particularly good film, either, if you watch it again.

I don't think there are really any good superhero trilogys. After the Spidey 3 and the Batman and Superman movies comes out, we'll see.

Easily the X-films.
Spider-Man might end up being the best next year, though.

I loved every movie X-film, except X-Men.
