Thanks for that. Been wanting to see it again. I agree. Punk-HHH comes off as more tense while Rock-Cena comes off as more juvenile and cartoonish most of the time. Most of that has to do with the silly insults they trade back and forth. Thats both their shtick, which is fun, but not enough for a clash of the generations ala Rock/Hogan.

I think eventually when the time draws closer to their actual match the exchanges between Rock and Cena will get more serious like the more serious exchanges between Rock and Hogan when came crunch time for their match.

Punk vs HHH does feel like a pressure building clash of eras and personalities. And the thing I love is that neither HHH or Punk were over scripted last night. It was obvious that these two were speaking with their own creative voices.

Kinda crazy isn't it? Punk actually got in the ring looked him right in the nose and called him on all his ********. Quick question for ya, do you think that anything CM Punk has said (aside from the curse word here and there) or done in the past few weeks has really crossed the pg boundry?

I really hope Cena and Rock get more serious when it comes time for their match. I think Cena threatening to punch Ace would have worked a lot better if he hadn't been so goofy about it, but at least it seems like he might be growing a bit of an edge.

I love Jericho, but HHH vs Jericho feels like the bigger match.

Wrestlemania 28 could be a phenomenal card if these matches happen:

- Cena vs. The Rock
- CM Punk vs. Triple H
- Someone vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (provided Austin is healthy and willing enough to compete for ten minutes)
- Someone else trying to end the Undertaker's Streak.

Plus: Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Kane, Big Show, Christian, Trish Stratus and others.

Also, I know that Stone Cold Steve Austin has neck issues and I know he has said he'd like one more match, but will he have that one more match? Somehow I doubt it.
I respect guys like Austin and Edge who know when to quit.

Too many guys stay in the ring way longer than they should.

So who would you rather see lose to the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 28? An up and comer or a veteran? I'd rather see a veteran go up against The Undertaker at WM 28. I say this because when the veteran wrestler loses the match (and he will) he doesn't lose any credibilty. We still see Triple H as a top guy in the WWE even though he lost to The Undertaker at WM 27. Losing to the Undertaker would have no affect on the status guys like Kane, Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena, CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and Big Show.

I don't want to see him lose to John Cena thats for sure. Cena doesn't need anymore of a push than he already has

Has he crossed the PG boundary? Not really. Punk has done surprisingly well within the restrictions. Its what he's said as well as how he's said it that makes it work. All swearing and nasty talk always seemed kind of lazy to me. Anyone creative enough can work within the PG boundaries most of the time without resorting to raunchy language or swearing.

One of my favorite segments was between Rock and Austin when JR interviewed them before WM17. They were both surprisingly calm and talked clean through much of it but it was the conviction they spoke with that really made that rivalry seem so epic.

There does a come a time though when the PG restriction needs to be lifted because when two people really get into a heated argument sometimes swearing slips out and that just makes it seem more real.

- Sources report that CM Punk can directly be credited with Zack Ryder getting more TV exposure over the past few weeks.

- Speaking of Ryder, he confirmed on Twitter that he's working tonight's SmackDown tapings, returning in the role of Teddy Long's assistant. Ryder's brief win streak ended on RAW last night as he and Santino Marella lost to David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty. WWE's website made a point to note that Ryder's streak had ended.

I think that even a loss to Undertaker at his final Wrestlemania can put over a new guy just as much as a win. If his health holds up, he can carry a match with just about anyone and put them over.

Anybody else find it interesting that Cena threatened to punch Ace again?

I thought that awesome. It's the type of character Cena should lean towards more often.

CM Punk & Triple H Promo WWE RAW 08/1/11

[YT]JV_bmdq8RZk[/YT]
This is how the Rock/Cena exchanges should have went on the pre-Mania Raw and post-Mania Raw.

That was promo gold. Some people claim Trips buried Punk but I think it was even and should stay like that for a while.

I really hope Cena doesn't win again at Summer Slam.

oh.....and I'd love to see a Jericho-Punk feud!!

but right now, a Punk-HHH feud would be great, too.

jericho should face taker at mania they really havent faced each other at all

I still think Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre should reform Empire from FCW or a similar British Stable with Mason Ryan. I don't think they should do the whole Le Resistance 'boo America' act though as its played out

McIntyre and Ryans career is on a downward spiral. Even though Barrett wants to be a singles wrestler I don't think he has good enough moves, intresting personality/character to be a solo wrestler.

I could dig a British stable with those guys. Especially if Regal were involved

I'd love to see Jericho vs. UT at Wm

Just think

U got Rock vs. Cena
HHH vs. Punk
and Jericho vs. Undertaker 3 Big matches for WWE's biggest PPV of the year. Add into the effect of Daniel Bryan cashing in his MITB against someone.

I would love for it to be a young guy. This should be The Undertaker's last match. He's really looking like his time has been long past, so I want him to go 20-0 to round out his streak and retire. What this could do for a young guy is for him to tell the fans...err WWE Universe that he was the one that ended The Undertaker. He was the guy to end it all, and that the Deadman will no longer be competing at his grandest stage because he met his greatest opponent. He did something that Shawn Michaels, HHH, Edge, Randy Orton, Big Show, Kane, Ric Flair, and Jake the Snake couldn't do. The Undertaker came out and destroyed them both, but he couldn't end his streak because it is his destiny to be the greatest WWE champion of all time.

Yep. I'm talking about Del Rio. He's not young in terms of age, but he's a new guy with the skill to carry around the arrogance of retiring The Undertaker. If Randy Orton was still The Legend Killer this would make sense, but I can see Del Rio having a great match with 'Taker and using that for some serious momentum to another title run. Hopefully by then he would have won the belt from his MITB title shot, and after losing to The Undertaker he could be going after another shot. If not him then Dolph Ziggler or Cody Rhodes.

I presume Bryan will eb cashing in his MITB vs Christian.

I'd be happy with a Mania of

Rock vs Cena
Trips vs Punk
Y2J vs Taker
Christian vs Daniel Bryan

It really goes to show just how much can be done with PG so long as people aren't lazy and don't dumb things down.

Agreed 100%, Triple H and Punk probably went over the basics of where the promo would go but you could tell those were their own words.

With Cena/Rock it's difficult because Rock only has one speed with promos bar the sit down one with JR and Austin you mentioned in your other post, and unless Cena raps he can't hang with The Rock talking smack. So if they want the rivalry to go beyond Rock basically calling Cena names and not respecting him because he sees him as a goof, while Cena repeats the same thing that Rock has no answer for, which will make the promo showdowns like a one armed man doing the breaststroke, something has to give.

Now they can't do the sit down interview thing because in the angle there isn't the mutual respect factor there was with Austin and Rock. So Rock is gonna have to meet Cena halfway on the serious side and drop some of the smack talk if they are gonna construct a story.

Kinda crazy isn't it? Punk actually got in the ring looked him right in the nose and called him on all his ********. Quick question for ya, do you think that anything CM Punk has said (aside from the curse word here and there) or done in the past few weeks has really crossed the pg boundry?

Yeah, Hunter said something to the effect that his instinct was to slap those tattoos off of Punks skinny, fat ass. Chances are it wasn't scripted, or Hunter (Don't call me that, I'm your boss) missed his line.
