Also, I smarked out (is that a thing? I'm going to make that a thing) when Cena mentioned the five moves of doom.

That's pretty much this angle all over. "Let's make those smarks wet their pants."

Damn this sounds great. I'm just getting to watch the contract signing now. I'm ready to piss my smark pants and mark out for the fourth week in a row or has it been five weeks ..idk.

Punk is a promo god. That was one of the few contract signings that was actually worth the time they took to do it. Cena was weak at first, but his last bit about how Punk has everything to lose was solid.

WWE continues to be more exciting than it's been in years. Also, the best part? When Punk said Dwayne in G.I. Joe made him mad, haha.

I loved it, I loved it. I knew it was going to be good when Punk started out by stating "why are we doing this?" I love how McMahon has pretty much given Cena and Punk the ball and they're just going with it. I really wonder though behind the scenes-wise if McMahon really is a fan of Punk though.

Also, wow. Punk calling out Johnny Ace on the recent releases on live TV was something else. Totally didn't see that coming and it was awesome.

Oh, and Dwayne calling Cena a "transvestite Wonder Woman" made me spit my beer out. :lmao:

Yeah, the commentary on the releases blew my face off.

I don't know what can be said about tonight that hasn't been stated. I just gotta say great work from Punk and Cena. It seems like the dialogue was alluding to backstage conversations at some points.

Also it's evident the Rock will have to respond to CM Punk at one point. I can't wait to see how that goes.

oh god Cena is annoyingly awful on the mic at the moment

also i think cm punk is great but why does he insist on using peoples real name and rubbishing their wrestlng name when his name is clearly fake?

Note I couldn't find Haters gonna hate one so this will have to do.

not mad, but he is so annoying - i hate the whole applauding his opponent after talking and saying "oh that was a good one you got me" "i respect you" "im such a nice guy" and goofy grin..... okay maybe I am mad

Anyone remember summerslam main event in 97? I got a feeling it might end the same way with HHH inadvertently costing Cena the match.

Then the next ppv (night of champoions) where he (HHH) is rumoured to be wrestling, it will HHH vs Punk (HHH will most likely wrestle and try take the title away from Punk to fix up his mistake at summerslam)

Cena's whole promo was about guys like you and thats why it had so much truth.

R-Truth is killing me with these promos :woot:

Shame it took till k-kwik was 39 for peeps to notice he was that good on the mic
Why? Why is Miz so... rapey looking in that 7Eleven commercial?
Miz looks rapey all the time not just in commercials
"His name is Harry Smith."This is really the reality era.
Makes sense with 24 hour news, reality television, social media, wikileaks to call this the reality era
Cena is still the companies top man and Vince will be careful in how this is played out, but when you have a dead crowd that a guy gets completely behind him the way Punk did tonight, you know you have a special talent.

Punk is the face for the older fans and Cena is the face for the younger fans, both can co-exist IMO.
Thats how I see it. Some of the long term fans from the attitude era having a guy like Punk gives them someone to cheer for while the newer fans can cheer Cena.

It makes good business sense to cover both those bases.
As if it wasn't obvious before...

The Punk/Cena rivalry this summer really underlines the importance of promos. The mic, more than in the in-ring work at times, is what will get a feud or a star over. It's why it's so important for guys to learn it and not rely on being spot monkeys. It also shows why scripted promos suck. Punk is Punk as always, but this was the most natural Cena has sounded on the mic in a long time.

I don't know how they're going to book main-event feuds when this is over in terms of promo work.
I've been saying that for a while. If some wrestlers had better mic skills it might get them further up the ladder.

I don't think they can co-exist.

The way it is at the moment, crowds seem to be split. And not split in a good way.

Crowds split in a good way would be, half the people chanting "Austin", half the crowd chanting "Rocky" during Wrestlemania.

The kind of split crowds we're seeing at the moment, we're hearing the women and kids cheer Cena and boo Punk, and just the opposite with the men.

I don't think that is good.

The crowd needs to be totally behind one of them.

The delimma is that they won't turn Cena heel.

:huh::huh: Your point was lost on me.

guys like me? you have jumped to a massive conclusion there

honestly I cant even remember what he said - his promos just arent good any more

Basically, Cena said he's not even going to try to win over fans that dislike him.

I've noticed that he's added to his moveset in recent times, and its appreciated. And he can have good matches with Punk. He is capable of being a good wrestler.

But a couple of good matches aren't going to win people over, when 90% of his matches follow the same predictable pattern.

The end of Raw actually points towards a classic bait and switch, Triple H seemingly getting in the way allowing Cena to land a shot, Punk claiming the fix is in, then at the PPV the swerve goes the other way and Triple H screws Cena and helps Punk win.....This of course would be stupidity as they finally have a face who gets cheered by those who's balls have dropped.

Another possibility is the match goes off clean and the WWE "outsmarts" the fans.

I see the Johnny Ace idea but I think him screwing anyone over is kinda pointless as he's just a stooge character.

The best route IMO, since they wont turn Cena, is to have Punk win and him and Cena shake hands, Cena leaves and as Triple H raises Punk's arm as the ref, he quickly Pedigrees him and Del Rio cashes in and takes the belt.

i thought a good job was done by both men last night....and the level of contempt they seem to have for john laurinitis is palpable.....does anyone besides Steph like that guy?

PWI brought up an interesting idea in summerslam match people keep thinking hhh is gonna screw punk but they brought up the possibility of johnny ace screwing either punk or cena without hhh's knowledge.Seeing how both punk and cena have laid out Ace and johnny even said cena does'nt deserve to be champion a week ago and tried to cost punk the mitb match till cena blasted him.

no that'll happen i can see HHH screwing cena and siding with punk. sorry but i still do not think wwe has the balls for anyone to go over they're poster boy permanently

He may not turn Cena heel but Vince likes money and Punk's shirt is selling faster than they can stock it, he doesn't want either man as the heel IMO, that is where Del Rio comes into play.

Is it just me or have they dropped the anonymous general manager?

This is the main thing that irritates me about Cena right now. Even Hogan at the peak of his face run wasn't that bad.
