How awesome was that promo for the main event at summerslam?it had a nice old school feel.

Kayfabe, shoot whatever you want to call it, Punk clearly won, because Cena does want that respect and he knows he could win over the fans if not for the goofy crap WWE has him do, this is a guy that was over with the very fans he says he can't win over, before he became the PG superhero, that is why Punk won, because he told it how it was, not Cena's spin on it.

Plus you can tell who won by the crowd reaction, the CM Punk chants were thunderous on more than one occasion during the promo and the show went off air with the arena rocking to CM Punk chants, Cena was booed nearly the entire time, Punk won the crowd, which is what a promo battle is about.

Also you keep bringing the name thing up, Punk only brought up the names he did to point out Triple was full of **** calling him a coward when he hides behind Ace.Other than that Punk didn't drop any names. He talked about what Cena was and what he sold out to become.

I think Cena showed that he has a strong fanbase that will support him no matter what, and at the end there he did say something incredible when he said that Punk will just be a one hit wonder. Punk still came across as the man in charge. He was so great in that promo that it seemed like it was the C.M. Punk show featuring Mr. H's and John Cena.

With Cena it felt like he was trying a bit too hard(again) to be okay with his haters, but at the end there I'm glad that he said he finally gave up on them. That's what I want from Cena instead of the old, "People have the right to boo me, and I'll just politely disagree with them because I'm just going to keep on hustling with loyalty and respect!" [insert goofy grin here] He is much better when he doesn't come across as a corporate mascot. Hell he really made me laughed when he mocked people criticizing him about his workrate. But Punk still stole the show. Even when he's not talking it feels as if he's the most important part of a promo.

Me too. Probably for the best; the GM's decisions were all over the map--he just did whatever the script called for, not what made sense for a particular character--so it would have been impossible to reveal him as anyone and have it make sense.

Most of Cena's points didn't mean jack because Punk agreed with them. Punk did hold Vince up for more cash: Punk has never claimed to be a selfless person. He is a bad guy and he doesn't wear a white hat. Cena acts like he can't win the men over and he's full of **** because I used to be a big time Cena fan. The only great point Cena had was Punk needing to win on Sunday.

The idea that Punk is full of BS is ridiculous because he's never said he was a noble man, he just said that he's our voice. He's saying things we always wanted to say and doing things we always wanted to do. CM Punk is not a good man, but neither was Austin.
