I'm looking forward to seeing the Gus/Mike relationship come together as well. If we don't see Gus in the season finale, I'll be very surprised to not see him next season.

I both cringed and laughed hard at Jimmy's montage of himself trying to get fired.

That was my favourite part of the show, I loved the whole sequence. Adding in the dancing inflatable flailing man was hilarious!

I also thought he may show up in the season finale.

The montage was amazing. It is one of the best scenes in the entire Breaking Bad-verse, right up there with the Crystal Blue Persuasion montage. Vince Gilligan certainly knows how to create a montage. :funny:

I'm scared for Kim. We know she is not part of Breaking Bad (that we know of) and she has been such an important part of the show, specially this season, that I'm worried something will happen to her.

She mentioned that she was originally from the Nebraska/Kansas border and since we know Saul lives in Nebraska in the future...maybe there's a connection?

Ah! Interesting. If the show explores what happens after Breaking Bad, they're probably going to include some of the characters we met so far, I would think.

Hmm, hard to say. Its worth noting that we never really saw Breaking Bad from Saul's perspective. Kim could've very well been in the picture. In fact, it is very possible that this show could even overlap with some of the events of Breaking Bad and show what Saul was up to when not being Walter's lackey, further explore the impact that Walter had on Saul (after the ricin cigarette we know that Saul wanted out and Walt's enterprise took a toll on him, that would be interesting to explore), etc.

Good catch!

I don't think Saul chose to get smuggled to Nebraska, but it does still open up the possibility of her showing up in the Gene flashforwards. But I doubt this show will go for a happy ending. It would be nice but I doubt it. Even if you haven't seen BrBa you'd get the impression there's an inevitable doom in store for Jimmy and those around it.

Which is why he's the perfect person for this kind of a series. I roll my eyes anytime someone says they would've wanted a Jesse series, because... why? Breaking Bad ended up being almost as much Jesse's story as it was Walt's. What uncharted territory is there to show the audience with Jesse? How he was a bad student, had a strained relationship with his family and got into the drug business? We saw all that. You want to show the (likely short) amount of time Jesse had after Walt died, before the law inevitably catches up to him? Okay, but there's not really much story there.

But, coming off BrBa, Saul was a blank slate. We saw nothing of his home life, nothing of his social circle. We only ever saw him interacting with Team Heisenberg, his own employees (can't wait to get to them) and law enforcement. Plenty of uncharted territory.

I don't know. I'm not really expecting a happy happy ending, but I hope Jimmy/Saul can get the same kind of a victory that Walt ended up getting. If for no other reason than I doubt that Jimmy ended up f***ing up the lives of those around him as much as Walt did. So I hope he at least gets a certain amount of grace in the end.

I dunno, I feel like the show will probably end exactly as the flash forwards have been. There are things worse than death and Saul is experiencing that. All Jimmy wants is to be as respected and exceptional as his brother. He isn't half as talented or driven so he takes shortcuts, but that is still his end game. To be relegated to a pathetic life in the shadows, managing a Cinnabun, stuck in that purgatory until the day he dies...that is the perfect ending for him.

Couldn't agree more. We don't need to see anymore of Jesse. His Breaking Bad ending was perfect. He was finally free. Free of captivity, free of Walter's control, free of his family, his addiction, etc. It doesn't matter what happened after. His arc is over.

Yep. I mean, we have no reason to assume that Kim, Chuck, Howard, etc weren't still around during the events of Breaking Bad. Personally, I think it would be amazing to see Saul go home to Kim after a day of helping Walter cover up a murder and see the impact that has on his home life. Because when it comes down to it, Saul is more akin to Jesse than Walter. Walter had no conscience and no limits. Saul does. He was being destroyed by what he did with Walter. By season 5, he was as much Walter's prisoner as Jesse and Skylar. It would be interesting to see how that impacts his relationship with Kim and Chuck.

I'd be curious to see if Gilligan would bring Cranston back to shoot some new material for the show or if they'd just reuse BrBa footage. I think it'd be interesting to shoot new footage and show certain events slightly altered from Saul's perspective.

God, you can't help but shake your head when Kim joined Jimmy. Knowing where this is going to go, she's not there so this could end pretty badly. I'm really interested to see where Kim's arc goes in this show as her descent could be just as, if not more devastating as Jimmy's. Her being of victim of Jimmy already happened this season. Now that he's going to be more himself, it's going to be worse. The sad thing is she doesn't know what we know and it makes it all that more sad. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end, she winds up back in Nebraska as a cashier at the gas station best case scenario if she manages to get out of Jimmy's life when it's all said and done.

Colorful bliss

What the f*** are you up to, Mike?

I really want this season to end with Mike meeting Gus for the first time.

that long take at the beginning  ... oh my god I love this show :D

I find it very fitting that the little girl helped Mike in whatever it is he's up to, considering how they threatened her.

And oh Jimmy... you clever bastard.

This was a much better episode than the previous ones. Jimmy shines whenever he's doing illegal and unethical things.

I was hoping Jimmy and the film students (love how they've become recurring characters BTW) had kidnapped an unintelligible old dude but the fact that "Fudge" was in on the scam was hilarious as well. :lmao:

As soon as I saw that place I felt like I'd seen it in Breaking Bad.

I can't wait to see the fallout from Jimmy's photocopier scheme. That's better set up than most dramatic cliff hangers! I like the look of semi-regret on Jimmy's face as he went about his plan too, the comeback on Chuck could be worse than he imagines -or maybe he does realize how bad it could be, and did it anyway?

Chuck isn't really that different from his brother. His scene with Mese Verde was a display of verbal manipulation on par with any Slippin' Jimmy con. The only difference is that Chuck was doing it within the law.

Chuck was manipulating left and right all throughout season one.

That's the big distinction. We as the audience may or may not like Chuck, he certainly lacks Jimmy's charm, but he does everything by the book and -whether we like what he's doing or not- within the confines of the law. They have common factors, they're both intelligent and ambitious, they both seek success and (for better or worse) take pride in what they do and how they do it. It might only be one or two traits that separate Jimmy and Chuck, but the decision to obey the law or not to makes for a huge divide.

This show is just wonderful. Every episode delivers. Wonderful addition to the BB universe.
