The 66' Batman movie is the only Batman film that is legitimately underrated, IMO.

Every ranking in this thread put it under some true stinkers.

But where would you place The Flash?
The Lower bunch next to The Lego Batman, BvS, Bat 66 and B&R.

Don't Get Me Wrong, I LOVE Bat Keaton scenes and it was a Lot of Fun. But He was Nothing more than just Nostalgia bait SO I don't count it. It's The Flash movie after all.

Look, I know there are people who love to rag on Rises, but there's no way in HELL it's a lesser film than The Flash lol

Also for me? I think Batman Returns is a little overrated. I used to love it at one point, but that love seems to have been lost a little. 89 at least felt like a Batman film for the most part.

Agreed. TDKRises is a far more superior and very emotional and inspiring film and a satisfying conclusion in a Trilogy than The Flash and Batman Returns.

It is Why I rank Rises Higher than Returns. And I Don't even include The Flash in My List since thats Not really a Batman movie.

1.The Dark Knight
2. Batman Begins
3. The Dark Knight Rises
4. Batman Forever
5. Batman Returns
6. Batman 66
7. Batman89
8. Batman and Robin

I liked the original Batman from 1989, but I hated "Returns" - it was far too dark.

As for Nolan's efforts, I liked all three of them, but "Batman Begins" is my favorite. The others favored the villains more, instead of Bruce himself.

I mean no disrespect to Batman '89 and Batman Returns, because they represented a leap forward for comic book adaptations, but the Dark Knight Trilogy wins this easily. It was a cohesive trilogy that covered all aspects of Batman's existence. It never winked at the camera, so it never removed the viewer from any part of the story.

Christian Bale trilogy easily.

And I liked that Flash movie by the way.

I love Keaton as Batman dearly but the only great movie he got was Returns. '89 is solid and The Flash is super duper bad. The usage of Keaton in Flash is also just so shallow and bad, his performance is a blast but it feels to me like they just wrote a generic Batman then got Keaton and splattered '89 imagery all over it.

The Flash saw the return of Michael Keaton's Batman, finally giving him/us that long-awaited third film. So, how does do Keaton's 'trilogy' 'three films featuring Batman' stack up against Christian Bale's?

For me it's close... Both are 'of their time' and take a distinctive approach - with Keaton's Batman existing in far more of a 'comic book' world than Bale's. Both start off strong, with an arguably even better second entry, and a divisive final one that nevertheless gives closure.

My ratings;

Keaton
Batman '89 ~ 8/10
Batman Returns ~ 9/10
The Flash ~ 7.5/10

Bale
Batman Begins ~ 8/10
The Dark Knight ~ 9/10
The Dark Knight Rises ~ 7/10

Totals:
Keaton ~ 24.5/30
Bale ~ 24/30

Keaton wins - just. How about you?

Edit ~ 15/10/23: I know Keaton's wasn't actually a trilogy. I thought using inverted commas around the word made that clear, but it seems not. So I've substituted the term 'three films featuring Batman'. Question remains the same.

As films? I definitely don’t agree with the ratings.

Batman Begins - 9 / 10
The Dark Knight - 10 / 10
TDK Rises - 8 / 10
Total: 27 / 30
90%

Batman ‘89 - 8.5 / 10
Batman Returns - 6.5 / 10
Total: 15 / 20
75%

Don’t really considering Flash as part of a unified or even segmented vision to be considered a trilogy.

Bale’s films were all objectively better and more well received. Even if 89 is still iconic and an awesome time. Now, if the direct comparison is more Keaton vs Bale and their acting performances with the same character?

Keaton in 89: 10 / 10
Keaton in Returns: 8 / 10
Keaton in Flash: 8 / 10
26 / 30
87%

Bale in BB: 9 / 10
Bale in TDK: 8 / 10
Bale in TDKR: 7 / 10
24 / 30
80%

Christian Bale was the better Bruce Wayne, but he was given significantly more material to work with.

As Batman, easily Michael Keaton. And besides thinking his Bruce Wayne take in 89 is more interesting than Bale’s, his Batman is just so much better, so much more bad ass, so much more natural with the posturing and the bad MFer walk. Keaton is just cool as Batman. And honestly for a 5 foot 9 guy, he makes this larger than life mythic character the most human and vulnerable, appearing like a quirky uncomfortable guy not in the cape and cowl, but snaps into being instantly more imposing and creepy than anybody else else to ever be Batman with the exception of one guy.

But overall in their time Keaton was very good, and Bale was just good. Michael was just naturally better and more interesting in the role, and consider him better while having far less to work with. So that’s impressive.

For full franchise comparison, Affleck was mid. Kilmer was bad. And Clooney was terrible.

I think Christian had much more potential than he delivered on. But you could make the argument Michael Keaton is a better actor anyway. Christian Bale had the better movies. Michael Keaton was the creator of the serious take of the character for the General Public and the most iconic movie in the franchise with 89. Christian Bale was the better Bruce Wayne by a touch, but had more to work with. Michael Keaton was definitely the better Batman naturally. Even when he shows up in Flash, at seven years old, he doesn’t miss a beat and as likable as ever. He’s just a more charismatic and likable guy which I think translates to his performance. Bale is also a great actor, but he doesn’t have the same level of likability and charm, which shines through in their Bruce Waynes. And Mike’s Batman is as cool and bad ass as ever.

As for the haters of Christian Bale, I get not preferring him, but these three highly successful films from both critics and general audiences doesn’t work without him being effective to downright good. That absolutely can’t be ignored.

Also, to be even more fair, you could subtract a point off of Keaton’s performance in returns and flash, and just chalk it up to likability on my end, and it’s basically neck and neck. 80% for both … but gun to my head, I like Keaton better and find his take more interesting. Simplified Keaton is the better Batman and Bale the better Bruce Wayne.

It doesn’t matter anyway, because I think both of them have now been surpassed

Overall, I prefer Keaton's Batman films; Bale's films have higher highs, admittedly, but I love the general feel and nature of Keaton's. Whenever I think of "Batman," the world that Tim Burton crafted comes to mind—even all of these years later, I look at them as being quintessentially "Batman." That's something I don't feel as though Nolan achieved with Bale, but I do find The Dark Knight Trilogy to be pretty spectacular and it is what reinvigorated my interest in Batman to the point of becoming virtually obsessed.

I feel the TDK trilogy very easily blows the Burton movies out of the water in terms of characterization and storytelling. They felt like they were made by someone with an actual interest in the character and I've never gotten that feeling from Burton

WB got Michael Keaton back in the suit and wasted that opportunity on The Flash.

That's a fair assessment; I understand that you prefer The Dark Knight Trilogy.
