Beverly Hills Ninja 2, a sequel to the 1997 action comedy starring Chris Farley, will film in South Korea starting next month, making it the first mainstream Hollywood movie to do so.

According to Variety, local company ATM Motionwide said production will begin Oct. 6 on Jeju island before shifting to two lots at the Busan Film Studio.

Sony Pictures Entertainment holds North American distribution rights.

Mitch Klebanoff, a writer and co-producer of the original film, has scripted and will direct the sequel. The story involves an orphaned boy who wants to be a ninja but becomes involved in a crime in Hollywood while looking for his real parents.

David Hasselhoff, Lucas Grabeel ("High School Musical") and Taiwanese model-turned-actress Lin Chiling (Red Cliff) are set to star in the sequel.

70% of the film will shoot in South Korea, with 30% in the U.S. The project is scheduled to wrap its Korean shoot on Nov. 20 and continue Stateside until the end of December. Sony is eyeing a May release date in U.S. and June in South Korea.

What the hell?? This movie just isn't right without Chris Farley.:csad:

Isn't he a German deity? He should have plenty of money. He's desperate for the spotlight. I guess sharing it on 'America's Got Talent' wasn't enough.

words cannot express my emotions.

The first one was pretty crappy. Chris Farley was only properly utilized in a couple of scenes, and in the rest the writers and director just simply didn't have a clue as to what gets people to laugh at him. Seeing Chris Farley walk around trying to imitate traditional Japanese etiquette does not a winning comedy make.

I remember the first movie. I know that Chris Rock was in the movie as well as a really fat Will Sasso.

The first one had entertainment value. I smell direct to DVD on the sequel.

Farley's kid?

Lucas Grabeel ("High School Musical")
Does he look like Farley?

Hollywood... Must be destroyed.

:oldrazz:

David Hasselhoff is a joke of an actor. :down

Seriously, this can't be made. It just wouldn't be the same, it's a horrible idea, and just proves Hollywood is running out of ideas.

The whole orphan thing is the plot from the first one yes.

No ties to Farleys character is from what I'm understanding.

And if it's the kid I'm thinkng of, then no, he's just moderately obese. I think. Or they could just go with a skinny nerd type this time around...that would be more logical and no so "remakish"
