I’ve said it before, but no filmed adaptation will ever satisfy they way Barry has. It’s like an unintentional spiritual successor.

That being said, in many ways this show is completely antithetical to GTA or sh** like John Wick. It's a show that takes you to task on why gratuitous violence is so f**ked up but done as a comedy so it's not hitting you over the head with it.

What I really loved about the episode was how much it subverted expectations.

There was no John Wick-style shootout between Barry and the Chechens/Fuches' guys like you'd expect. There was no final showdown between Barry and Fuches, who after the last couple of episodes I'd have thought would've been the most likely person to kill Barry but in the end Cousineau being the one to do it and damn himself in the process is just too brilliant.

I do wish this season was longer. There were elements that didn't get as fleshed out as I liked. But overall, I think it was incredible. Acting and directing brilliant as always. Expectedly heartbreaking but still with flashes of humor. And an ending that left no doubt towards Hader's thematic intent, while also leaving some character beats open to interpretation.

Gonna miss this show.

A mostly good finale. But I feel like I needed more from Fuches, and The Mask Collector was just distractingly bad. I get it was a parody of similar biopics, but it just didn’t land and went on way too long.

That would’ve been pretty epic!

But I also got the impression that though they were positioning this to be a big tentpole theatrical film, it just ended up as a direct to streaming Hallmark/Netflix film with no stars that will be forgotten in a week kind of irony.

Watching the scene from S2 where Hank goes to Lululemon in disguise, and it’s crazy how much seasons 1 and 2 feel like a whole different show compared to 3 and 4.
