Bill O'reilly hates horror movies

"This is a sickening spectacle that could have never happened in America, even 10 years ago."

.......
.......
....um...ok lol.

Technology might have not been as good 10-20 years ago, but there have been torture, dismemberment, and so on longer than 10 years ago. Seriously, I've seen both Saws and it's hardly anything new, past being a new main villain then basically copy/paste what other horror movies have done in the past. I have a feeling the only horror movies he knows about are the headline grabbing 'big ones'. You can watch 80's B movies and see more graphic (tho less visually impressive looking) violence blood and guts, and in spades.

I honestly get the impression his idea of a horror film is Freddy Krueger movies. Not only did these types of movies happen 10 years ago, they were better and more bloody than Saw lol. Heck even mainstream Zombie movies have guys being ripped apart and intestines pulled out, pretty sure that somewhat counts as torture, and is graphic (for the amount of money they can put in).

Edit -

"DR. VIRGINIA KLEIN, PSYCHOTHERAPIST: People with a great deal of need to see rage and identify with power and angry power. Because nobody is listening to feelings."

And this is equally rediculous. I'm not sure why psychologists and psychotherapists have to label everyone who watches or does a certain thing, but I watch movies to be entertained period. I don't go there putting myself in the place of the main villain and feeling like I have power over the victims, and I def don't care to have power or 'angry power' over the life of another, no thnx. Again, I go to be entertained. If it has a good story, good characters, and some action, then I'm happy with a horror movie as long as I walk out feeling I got my monies worth.

Bill O'Reilly will ALWAYS find something new to complain about... it's his role in life.

not horror movies, but slasher pics. they're just meh mostly. i like good horror movies like The Ring or The Grudge, but those are hardly American.

i think horror movies are just good not so clean fun.

and Bill O'Reilly is a turd who would rather complin about movies than duscuss real governmental problems going on

and i think that since movies like Saw exhibit torture devices that can all be found in the history of man as being actually used on other people, it's not the movies that are terrible, it's us. so what the hell is wrong with us using it for entertainment?

no, he prefers good clean fun, like playing with *****s.

yeah!!
ones that glows in the darks and requires German batteries.

I laugh at people like O'Rielly because they seem to think they have control over who the 1st amendment applies to. According to him, it does NOT apply to anyone in Hollywood.

Newsflash: Bill O'Reilly declares War on Fun!

The problem is that you guys have grown up in an era of Jerry Springer. There is no upper limit for you....nothing is just simply beyond the pale....no restraint is needed.

A society cannot stand for very long, with that kind of attitude.

Those are not horror movies! These are slasher/ torture movies. No plot....no purpose. Just blood and guts everywhere.

I agree with O'Reilly. Surprise. Surprise. :whatever:

Man I love the hypocricy of this guy--he gets his rocks off telling people how morally devient they are, and yet he's been caught on audiotape f**king teenage girls. :o

I agree with whoever said that most modern horror is simply gore and not horror at all. I don't consider 99% of most modern horror movies scary in any way, shape, or form. They're more comparable to a taped biological dissection. I mean, seriously, they give us ridiculously stereotyped characters noone can associate with, so we WANT them to die rather than fear what could kill them. And we typically get our wishes in the most profoundly unnecessary ways possible.

Why do you think that the scene in "Psycho" where we see blood hitting the floor of the shower while hearing the shower running and the creepy music is considered one of the best scenes in horror history? We KNOW she's getting stabbed but it's not the sight of the stabbing that frightens us, it's the sickening imagery and unsettling psychology that gets us going.

I'm typically freaked out by movies that show LESS (and therefore are more realistic) than show more. As much as I HATE some really stupid factors in the plot, the movie Signs was scarier for me than all of the Saw movies combined, and the scariest part about it was playing on the natural FEARS of the human being, the unknown. Such as the scene where they board up the house and hear things pounding on the window, and the dog being killed.

Sorry lasagna brains from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you're nothing more to me than a lesson in anatomy.

In short, though I believe Bill O'Reilly is a piece of ****, I agree that these movies are unnecessary. Maybe I disagree with him over the morality, but I also hate these "horror" movies that bore the snot out of me.

oh no no no.
don't get me wrong.
i think the quality level of said "horror" films have gone down.
wayyy down.
when you're just remaking movies word for word, slice for slice, LAME.
and i definitely believe that the best horror movies are psychological thrillers.
Silence of the Lams. Clockwork Orange. Jacobs Ladder. Suicide Club.
those really give you the heebie jeebies.
but what the hell is wrong with wanting to see the **** get it in the back with a meat cleaver every now and again?
nothing. that's what. it's just downright American.

I guess Freedom of Speech only goes to whatever O'Reilly authorizes it for.

Gah, I LOVE horror movies. And what the hell is up with him playing this off as a NEW thing?? Texas Chainsaw Massacre, hello? Horror movies have been around for a LONG time, and before they were people were still doing plays depicting unspeakable acts against other human beings.

But I do find this statement a bit ironic...

... since Bill was only exercising his own right to Freedom of Speech for giving his opinion on the matter.

He wasn't "authorizing" anything. The man was giving his OPINION on the matter, and you are criticizing him for doing so while also touting Freedom of Speech. Sort of doesn't make sense.

It makes perfect sense. And im using my freedom of speech as well. Theres a lot of freedom going on in this thread.

No, because you're essentially telling someone (Bill O'Reilly) to shut up about Freedom of Speech.

Yeah, thats my right under Freedom of Speech, join us in freedom lazur!

Jackass.

Hmm, I wonder if he'll rekindle his 'War on Christmas' tirade this year??
