Doctor Who fans will soon be angrily explaining (again) that their phone booth came first. Alex Winter - Bill - has confirmed a rumor that the Bill and Ted series is going to become a trilogy.

Let's face it; it was only a matter of time once skinny jeans and off-the-shoulder shirts came back into fashion. Bill and Ted, of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey are going to add another movie full of faux southern California slang and air guitar.

I'm not worried that it's going to be dated. It will be. If it wasn't dated when it came out, it most certainly was by the time Bogus Journey got to VHS. Bill and Ted were basically a hair band with short hair. Alternative rock chewed that sound up and spit it out. It was like Saturday Night Fever, looking at a nearly dead culture.

So no, I'm not worried that it's going to be dated. I'm worried that it's going to be sad. Bill and Ted were supposed to start their meteoric rise to fame in 1991, and a utopian society was going to follow. It'll be twenty years. What the hell happened? It was all part of The Matrix?

According to Winters, they've found a way around it.

"We kicked around the idea over the years and had always thought if we could make something that was as kind of genuine in spirit as the originals and without falling prey to kind of retro cynicism or something that was unnecessary, it would be worth doing. Now the cat's out of the bag, and the truth is that, yeah, we have finally hit upon an idea that we think is pretty great. We've been working on it for the past couple of years, honing that idea and getting it into shape."

At this point, there's no projected date for this game-changing idea to arrive in theaters. I guess we'll just have to wait.

And yes, Keanu will be in it.

This new is most excellent. *air guitar*

Hope it's good. I like the first two.

Hell yes. I had heard a rumor about this a little while ago. I would kill for some more Bill and Ted.

you know...I had to give this one some thought. But I think i'd be all for it IF they ended up going back in time to the 80's again.

Who will they get to replace George Carlin as Rufus? Bill & Ted's children should be old enough now to go on adventures with their fathers or was that from a view of the future that has yet to be?

Guess Keanu is itching for something to be in.

Not really sure about this, Alex Winters talking about the script sounds a lot like Speilberg talking about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Some franchises should just stay dead

"Excellent!"

I could see it working if they're both grown up in their utopian future but someone goes back in time to change things and as their in the phonebooth at the time, the future changes around them whilst keeping their memories. So they have to go and chase this villain through several different time periods, with the final act taking place back in the 80s, to put things right. Kind of BttF/re-hash of the 2nd... but... what else could they do in a 3rd one?

Get William Sadler back as the Reaper some how too :woot:

Most excellent! These were like my favorite films when I was 7 or 8. I actually think it's an interesting concept, where would these two characters be today? :woot:

I have a feeling that Keanu Reeves is going to be the Rufus type character in the film, with two new guys and their band being the Bill and Ted types.

This is going to be a lot of fun. It could easily turn out to be a bad idea but you can't hold these films to a high standard.

heard about the news a few days ago. i hope it does happen for real this time. Cant wait to see what reeves and winter have in store.

I wonder how they would get back together or the plot for that matter.

Maybe the Princesses left them and they use the Booth to go back and change how the marriages went. :woot:

I wonder how they would get back together or the plot for that matter.

Wild Stallions get rich, lose it all & then the band breaks up & Bill & Ted move back home with their folks, people from the future come back in time to reunite them, so that Britney Spears music or pop music in genral doesn't take over.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures, most triumphant.

Remember the Bill and Ted's Excellent Cereal? Man, that **** was delicious.

Am I the only one who remembers the cartoon?
