This is a question for people out there paying bills.
Was it hard or simple?

- If so, how hard was it when you started off?
- Is it a hassle paying the water bill, electric bill, gas, mortgage, health insurance, car insurance (etc.)?
- Was it a hassle to keep up with the bills?

It won't be too long before I start having to deal with all of this.

 :csad:

Basically, was paying bills a hassle when you first started?

bills as in owning your own place.. electricity etc....

that is called taxes

When I initially moved out of the family's care I kept close eye on my funds, well things were really tight so I had to. I wrote every thing down,I was an excellent bookkeeper. But my bills were pretty minimal at such a young age. Now I just find myself overwhelmed. When I had a house,it got really out of hand. I also had tenants so you can imagine what kind of turmoil that was for someone who just wanted to run and play. But I'll wrangle myself back to being organized before I become a homeowner again. :O

insurance is the biggest scam

I can pay them easy, but I keep forgetting to pay them.

I reccomend setting up a proper plan before you have to start paying bills.

Just paying as you go can get messy. Its also important to keep track of what you have paid too.

That being said, its not that hard.

Bills are easy as long as you are financially competent and you set yourself limits...

for your first quarter or so, i say you lash out on bills but stay in and don't go out much. This way you can find out the extent of how bad bills are ever likely to be (that is regular bills).

once you have this upper roof level of what rent, gas, electricity, water, council tax etc are going to be like, then all you have to do is set aside that money every few months and then you won't even have to worry about it and because you are always planning to that upper limit, then you'll always be relatively happy you've got money left over to indulge with (or in my case, re-invest into my future).

just always make sure to keep money aside, you don't want to fall short at the end of the month and live on dog wee and biscuits for a week.

oh, and also live to your means, no point getting yourself into unecessary debt.

How hard it is to pay the bills depends on the type of person you are and how realistic you are in your purchases.

Can you budget?

Here's how it works. You know you're going to make a certain amount of money every month. You have to make sure your expenses for the month do not exceed the amount of money you are going to make. But be careful!!! You'll have all those temptations to buy on credit and that is the downfall of most people. Those "don't pay for a year" offers - make sure you save enough during that year to pay for it the minute the year is over, you do NOT want to pay the interest on those.

If you make $1000 a month, do not spend more than $500 for rent/living expenses. You'll probably need $200 for groceries. The rest you will want for incidentals (clothing, gifts, entertainment, etc.) Do your best to set 10% ($100) away for a rainy day every pay. You will find there comes a day when you need it. (Example, you lose your job, it takes 6 weeks for Unemployment Insurance to kick in but your rent is still due at the end of the month. You might have 2 month ends before you get your first Unemployment Cheque). Once you have enough money to cover at least 2 months rent saved, then start trying to put money away for Retirement. Don't trust the government to take care of you when you get older. My husband and I were able to borrow from our Retirement savings to put the downpayment on our house.

Aye. Myself; like Warhammer will have bills to pay soon. Not lookin forward to it. Car insurance and student loans being the two I know I'll hate the most.

Can you pay my bills, keep payin' my automo-bills, keep payin' my telephone bills, then maybe we can chill.

Get a sugar mama, man.
