Birds of Prey 2010 comeback!

Jeeze. Hawk and Dove have a turnover rate almost as big as Robin's.

I could see it being Hawk and Dove, actually. I'd love it if the girl were Cassandra Cain, but that seems unlikely. Overall, I'm kind of meh about this. I don't even know why. I guess too much has tarnished Babs and Dinah since the previous BoP series. Plus, Misfit still lingers in my brain.

I just heard! I'm so excited! I loved Simone's Birds of Prey, and this title was one of the few places Ed Benes' cheesecake art seemed appropriate.
Man, it's gonna be nice having a well-written version of Black Canary again.
Exactly. It is amazing! ! I'm so f***ing glad! And excited. I miss this book a lot. It has been one of my favorite for a long long time. It was even my favorite book during G.Simone's run !
I enjoy E.Benes' art personally and I love it even more with chicks. And hopefully, I'm going to enjoy a well-written Black Canary too. The run of Gail Simone was one of my favorite, it was excellent and clever. She wrote a magnificent Dinah, and I seriously miss that. The cleverness, the girl, Helena, Zinda. Glad to see the same team again. I'm OK with Batwoman in the team, not for Batgirl.
Amazing, amazing news!! :oldrazz::yay:

^why not for batgirl? Cassie is a complete BAMF who needs to be a part of a good series after the Beechen shenanigans. And Steph as batgirl has actually been a really good read, her character is growing alot (though i still think her proper place is as spoiler)

Do people really call Cassandra Cain "Cassie"? I thought that was Wonder Girl's nickname. I've been calling Bat-nutter "Cass" for short.

I call her Cass to distinguish her from Wonder Girl. But "Cassie" is a perfectly suitable nickname for Cassandra.

Most likely. Simone did reintroduce them in that Teen Titans arc no one read because it was drawn by Rob Liefeld.

And now for a little reading between the lines...

"But still, this is the Birds of Prey Black Canary, which means she is competent, dangerous, smart, and compassionate. She's not a hostage, dammit. She is not an appendage. She’s the Black Canary. She holds her own.

 "

My oh my. Where ever have we seen Black Canary reduced to being an appendage or occasionally a hostage? ;)

"I enjoyed a lot of what Dwayne McDuffie was doing in JLA, and Tony Bedard did some very nice stuff with all the Birds, as well as Bryan Miller on the new Batgirl title with Oracle. I’m not dissing the other portrayals, and I’m not trying to say I’m the only one who can write these characters. I just want them to have a chance to shine on their own, without being in someone else’s shadow, whether it’s Batman, Green Arrow, or the JLA."

Funny. She doesn't give any positive mention to Judd Winick or Andrew Kreisberg. It's almost as if Dinah was written horribly throughout Green Arrow/Black Canary!

Hasn't everyone been written horribly throughout Green Arrow/Black Canary? That whole marriage was a stupid idea in the first place.

I don't often say this, but I could've written a much better comic. Winick is a hack, and Kreisberg's goal from the moment he got on that book was to slowly marginalize Black Canary until she could be written out entirely.

Knowing Simone will fix Black Canary actually makes me kind of want to get this after all. I'll have to pick up the first issue or arc.

The most twisted new Birds villain ever??!

How twisted were their villains in the past? The only original villain who comes to mind was Savant, and he ended up being their ally later.

That was a good arc. I miss those days. Maybe I will try the new Birds series out after all.

BIRDS OF PREY #2
On sale JUNE 16 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Flying out of BRIGHTEST DAY, the Birds of Prey are forced to ally themselves with the worst of Gotham City’s mega-criminals while they struggle to save his life from the unspeakable horror that hunts them all! Fan-favorite writer Gail Simone (WONDER WOMAN, SECRET SIX) and superstar artist Ed Benes (JUSTICE LEAGUE, GREEN LANTERN) continue their return to the title that first brought them together!

This title and the Batwoman ongoing are the only things that I am even remotely interested in or excited about regarding DC's plans for the coming year. So I'll be eagely anticipating this

Between Birds of Prey, Supergirl, Batgirl, Batwoman, Power Girl and the mixed bag that is Wonder Woman, DC is doing an amazing job with all-girl superhero titles.

Yeah, DC's treating their female characters better than Marvel is at the moment, but if any of those titles is a mixed bag, I'd go with Batgirl.

Stephanie Brown as Batgirl, writer of Smallville writing, at least Simone's (soon to be JMS) got a likeable lead character to write.

Judd Winick's taking over Power Girl, so prepare to add that one to the "mixed bag" list as well. :oldrazz:

Winick? But what about everyone's favorite Sexy Threesome, Palmiotti, Gray, and Conner?

Besides BOP, the only ones I would include upon that list are Batwoman and Power Girl.

I would include Wonder Woman but her fate is still very much up in the air until we read the first JMS issue

I don't read Batgirl and Supergirl. I'm aware of their titles, and I do like Steph Brown a little, but I don't know how those titles are doing in terms of quality. I recently dropped Wonder Woman because of its crappy storyline (despite the good characterization), but I do love Power Girl and Batwoman's Detective issues. Point is, Marvel can't maintain an all-female comic to save their lives, but DC has a lot of titles running.
