Birds of Prey 2010 comeback!

If Geoff Johns gets ahold of Hawk & Dove, the original Dove will come back from the dead, marginalizing Dawn into a character we'll hardly hear from again.

Sigh. Wrong thread.

Normally I would agree but Johns seems to like Dawn as Dove so she's probably safe

hmm...I'm no feminist or anything, but i've always kind of thought of the BoP as a female team. I'm not gonna complain or anything until i actually read a few issues...

... That said, i REALLY hope that batgirl plays some kind of role in this series.... and i'm praying that this is the book where Cassandra Cain makes her return :)

Eh, the BoP have had men in the ranks before. Savant, Creote, Wildcat.

I feel the same way. I hate to sound like a misandrist or something because I really have no problem with men or male characters. But I've always liked the BOP to be an all female team.

Still I have confidence in Ms Simone. Her first run on BOP was one of my favourite mainstream DC comics and I'm sure she'll do a good job once more

They were more guest stars or supporting characters though. Though since you mention them, I do hope that Savant and Creote are still in the supporting cast of the title:yay:

Haha, yeah, same here. Seems weird seeing a guy on the team. The official team has always been all female in the past, correct? Not a big deal or anything, though. A bigger deal is that I'm pretty impartial to Dove and Hawk in general

I like Dove but I've never liked Hank Hall. And I'm uncomfortable with the way he seems to be forgiven for his past crimes. He killed two members of the original JSA and tried to destroy reality. That's kind of a big thing to just ignore

Anybody know if that variant in a 1 in X or a 50/50? I kind of like it

Were they official members of the BOP or did they just work with those characters? I don't remember

I'm not so familiar with Hawk and Dove but with what i saw of them in BD#0 makes it seem to me that Hawk is a giant *****ebag and Dove is pretty much his babysitter. is that far off the mark?

I don't know how official they were, but they did work with them. Savant and Creote worked with them for some time, in fact. Either way, I'm fine with men on the team. Not sure why an all-female team should be embraced but all-male teams frowned upon. Open all the ranks to both genders.

I do, however, have a big objection to the specific man who's on the team in this case.

I don't have a problem with it or anything, just find it kind of weird, since I always think of BOP as an all-girls club. It's like having a man on Charlie's Angels or something like that.

No, that's pretty much accurate. In fact I believe calling him a giant *****ebag is being far too charitable toward Hawk

Given that Black Canary was the only one with a bird in her name until Lady Blackhawk joined, I always assumed the "Birds" in "Birds of Prey" referred to them all being women.

But if Simone wants to add Hawk, it's whatever.

Hawk and Dove's whole schtick is basically aggression vs. pacifism. Hawk is the angry pragmatist who gets his hands dirty and is all about brute force, Dove is the graceful idealist who tempers Hawk's anger.

I have a problem with Hawk on any team of heroes, after what he's done. He does not even have some retcon excuse like Hal Jordan or Captain Atom. He just went nuts and tried to murder everyone. He should be locked up.

Right. *****bag and babysitter, thats what i said:woot:

I'm sure that'll come up. Simone's not a terrible writer or anything. Even Johns couldn't ignore the fact that Hal Jordan killed the entire Green Lantern Corps, so he gave us that horrible Parallax-bug story to sweep it all under the rug. At the very least, we can expect something similarly perfunctory that will somehow exonerate Hawk from his time as Extant quickly and let Simone write the Hawk she wants to.

Say what you want about the parallax story, everything that has followed has been AMAZING!:woot:

As long as it's better than that stupid Parallax nonsense in GL:Rebirth

Honestly though, I just hope that Hawk has a minimal role at best. I really do hate the character, even before he went nuts. There's nothing about him I find interesting or enjoyable and I kind of resent the idea that he might take away page time from far more interesting characters like Black Canary or Lady Blackhawk.

So I hope that Hawk and Dove are pushed as far into the background as possible.

If I were to say what I thought of the Parallax story I fear I'd be banned for use of language such as that.

I will say that I've found Green Lantern to be simply awful since Hal Jordan's return. He was better off dead

I've become a HUGE fan of hal jordan. I honestly hadn't read anything of him until recently when blackest night began. then i ran out and got Rebirth, No Fear, Revenge of the green lantern, and Hal Jordan: Wanted. I've not been disappointed yet :). Rebirth had some bleh moments but overall i've loved the whole series.

To each their own. I've always found him fairly boring and unlikeable.
