Yea the press kicked up a big stink about it. Saying it glorified Britains most violent prisoner and all that crap. That's why the advertising was so crap for it I think.

Is it bad of me that when I saw Black Mask, I instantly thought Red Skull? :/

They are both skull-faced dudes wearing a suit. I have that connection in my mind as well. ;)

:funny: yeah...

It'd be confusing for the general movie goer that watches Captain America then (if) they have Black Mask in the 3rd film.

"Wait a tick...isn't he a nazi?!"

Well one is RED Skull. The other is BLACK Mask. If people get confused by that, they should be shot.

You know you're talking about human beings here, right?

People that stupid ain't human beings.

:hehe: But obviously I'm joking. But I mean, people that stupid really shouldn't be allowed out of their cages.

Eh, I mean, I could just see the confusion between the two.

Unless they don't go for a skull and just give him a black hood.

Like Cobra Commander!

Na I can understand being confused without watching the films or something.

But if some one watches Cap, sees RED Skull.

Then goes and watches Batman 3 and sees BLACK Mask and is like "Hold on, wasn't that guy in Captain America?" Then I fear for the human race.

I dont think they ll be confused. Most likely they ll accuse the franchises for stealing from one another.
Which might be true in this case, dunno...

Yea I get what you are saying.

But I think the two characters are different enough.

Ones a megalomaniacal Nazi.

The other is a sadistic crime boss who delights in torturing people.

i like the idea of black mask as the villian, with the imprisonment of the joker and the rest of the mob unorgainised he can step in with the false face society and control gothams underworld, were bruce wayne can go undercover with the matches malone story,

If Black Mask were in this movie how could he be portrayed without looking too similar to Nolan's Scarecrow? Because he wore a business suit and a mask, which is what Black Mask wears, but it's a skull.

I don't think he would steer any of the other villains in the same direction when trying to portray them.

That is a good point, I never thought of it, and I think Nolan will try to go with something a little more freaky and out there, hence why I think Bane, Croc, riddler, even mad hatter might be a better direction.

As much as Black Mask is perfect in Nolans world, I think you would have to save him for a 4th or 5th movie.

The Riddler would also wear a suit. As did Two-Face. As would Penguin.

The suit isn't a big deal. Plus, for the last chunk of Batman Begins, Scarecrow ran around in a burlap sack.

I always felt Costas Mandylor would've been a great Black Mask, he's very good at playing cold and unemotive villains, but he would probably be too old for Roman. I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt (if he isn't the new Joker in the current series) would also be good, and if Garrett Hedlund isn't casted as Captain America, he'd make a good Black Mask too, he played a nasty villain in Death Sentence.

HAHAH I remember him, he was good in that show with a police girl.

I haven"t thought that but I guess Nolan would fix it.

What about Gerard Butler? he's looking pretty badass in Law Abiding Citizen..my friend saw an advance screening last night and he said Butler was awesome in it. I'm planning on catching it come 10/16 but just wanted your opinions on that idea?
