I'm familiar with his backstory. Can you honestly tell me it compares to the rise and fall of Harvey Dent? I just don't see Nolan taking on another disfigured villain, especially not one who just isn't as compelling as the previous one.

I've been going through various threads lately, and I've noticed that a lot of posters seem to want Black Mask as the main villain for Batman 3, which is something I really find baffling. To be honest, I'm not very familiar with the stories from the 80's with him, but I am familiar with his modern role as a Freak Crime-Lord, who looks remarkbly like The Red Skull. Personally, I have to admit that I find him in his current version to be one of the blandest and weakest villains in Batman's rogues gallery. We've already had two disfigured villains in TDK, do we really need another one, who can't possibly be as compelling?

Is there something that I don't see in Black Mask, that everyone else does? What makes people think he's a worthy villain for Batman to tackle in the third film?
I don't get it either.

His character fits in as a mob boss taking over the dissolved crime factions, as well as signifying the freaks taking over Gotham. If he is in the movie, I feel like Nolan will ditch the childhood backstory.

Also, didn't Nolan plan on including Black Mask in The Dark Knight at one point? I've heard that so many times, but I don't have a link bookmarked. Anybody have one?

I am not a fan of Black Master either. Not really sure where all this support for him has come.

Also, didn´t Nolan plan to use the mad hatter in BB?
But he didn´t, you can´t put in the 3rd every single character that was supposed to appear in the previous one, and Nolan didn´t plan that, it was rumored that an actor that appeared could have appeared as Black Mask, but he appeared as a journalist instead.

I originally wanted Black Mask, but with the Red Skull in Cap, i think they are to similar in appearance for it to work.

Really? They used greek stile for the batman and robin, and that ended in disgrace with a pair of batniples.

^ I highly doubt that Nolan would use Bat Nips lol

I was just kidding, but there are more ways to destroy a film, i just hope he avoids them.

^ I agree. Its a hard task to but out 3 very good movies, but, In Nolan I Trust lol

He's a great villain. Creepy, visually interesting, totally ruthless, and sometimes amusing in a witty way.

Should read him in Under the Hood.

Did Original Spawn say something wrong?...I see he just got banned. I thought he was a decent poster.

Anyway, I don't want to see a mob boss as the main villain. Black Mask would work better as a supporting villain. That would be like making Falcone the main villain in BB or Maroni in TDK. And as I said before, may get some flack from it, but I don't want Black mask to have the mask molded to his face. Too corny for a film imo. He should just put it on to evoke fear...although that might be too much like Scarecrow lol.

I don't think there's any notable mob guys left to use anyway. Falcone is in Arkham. Joker killed Gambol and the Chechen. Two Face killed Maroni. The freaks are taking over.

JGL for Black Mask.

Yeah Thorne can't just come out of the woodwork randomly, surely he would of had to be present in TDK with all the other "lead" mob bosses.

Wtf is Falcone doing in Arkham:huh:

I thought he was only there temporarily in BB. But regardless, I guess he doesn't matter because we do know he's in prison whether it be Arkham or Gotham Penitentiary. I think it would be cool if he returned(cant think of the actors name) As for Maroni...I always assumed if Two Face survived, so did Maroni. I think he was wearing his seat belt too. But you're probably right. Nolan's probably not going to bring back a supporting mob boss.

But Maroni came out of the woodworks randomly in TDK. Surely we would have at least heard the name of the second biggest mobster in Gotham in BB...:o

And wouldn't Black Mask come out of the woodworks just as randomly if he's in B3? He was not present in the gangster "therapy session" in TDK as the rest of them were.

Aye but there was no need for Maroni in BB as it just focused on the big dog Falcone. But after Falcone became incarcerated his influence was carved up. Hence the presence of Gambol, Maroni and the European in TDK. If Thorne existed in this universe then surely he would have got his slice of the pie too and would have been present in TDK.

Black Mask wouldn't have been present as a mob boss in TDK because he would have still only been a normal citizen at the time of TDK. But after The Joker signifies the take over of the freaks, this inspires Roman Sionis to spear head an aggressive take over out of nowhere. Just like The Joker spear headed his own agressive take over out if no where.

Very good point. That would be a good idea, for Roman to come out of nowhere, guns blazing.

Your last point brings to me many questions about Joker but that's for another thread:o

Rupert Thorne i think is a man in the shadows, like he puts a legit business man act and everybody (the NYPD, the mayor, maybe even batman), but he's an untouchable mob-boss in the underworld. he doesn't want his share of the pie because it's too little for him, so introducing him in B3 as a big dog in the mob, but a pretentious "good guy" as an act in the high-society and law system.

Black Mask would be of course tied to waynetech, the rumor was that he was an alternate heir to waynetech... but you do have a good point. also, i had a thought (i don;t remembre if i already posted it), but why not Mads Mikkelsen for Sionis?

I'VE always hated Rupert Throne in the cartoons. snore
