Black Mask could work incredibly well for the third film.

Roman could be the Bruce Wayne 2.0 of Gotham. A rival to Wayne as many has said, and make plays for his company.

On the flip side, as Black Mask I could see him consolidating the mob and basically make them corperate - what does he offer? Full protection from Batman! They dont need to be knocking over 7/11's or robbing banks when he can laundry their money thru his own company. Why risk running into Batman when they can all sit back and just collect their money thru corperate america? Slowly but surely he begins to take over all of Gotham until he offers the people a choice - Black Mask or the Batman?

In controling the city he offers complete and total control. A totalitarian underworld regime. Complete and utter safety at the cost of complete obedience.

Black Mask is only useful as a "freak" variety crimeboss.

I'd much rather seen Ventriloquist or even Killer Croc in that role. They're actually distinctive and inherently more interesting, unlike Black Mask who looks like something a ten year old would invent.

I also like the idea of Roman Sionis in the next Bat flick, but I wouldn’t make him a mob boss. I’d stick with the wealthy, corporate CEO angle though. In my sequel, Sionis, the young head of Sionis Holdings, is very similar to Bruce Wayne: he’s young, handsome, and filthy rich. Though they are contemporaries, they aren’t the best of friends. Unlike Bruce though, Roman is known in the press as a kind-hearted philanthropist. He donates millions of dollars to charities across the city. As the movie opens, Sionis has just invested heavily in Gotham’s downtrodden East End section. In fact, he recently poured millions of dollars into a battered women’s shelter that’s run by Dr. Leslie Thompkins. What the public doesn’t know, however, is that Sionis has a dark side, a very twisted dark side. There has been a series of abductions of young women in recent weeks. These crimes have been going on for years (it’s one of GCPD’s cold cases) but the frequency of these occurrences has increased. Women who have survived these abductions in the past have told horrific stories of torture and rape. But the only identifiable characteristic they can remember is that “he wore a black mask.”

It turns out that Roman Sionis has a sadistic fetish for torture. His latest victim is a young social worker at the East End Battered Women’s shelter named Maggie Kyle. Needless to say, Sionis gets outed by the Batman but he also invites the wrath of Maggie’s sister, Selina, a professional cat burglar.

I would love to see Black Mask. but im not sure if he would be able to carry the movie as the main villain & draw in the casual movie fan. Even though a TDK sequel will be highly anticipated by almost everyone.

I wouldn't mind seeing him but it won't happen. They'll use someone more universally known like The Riddler or The Penguin.

I agree,even I didint know much about Black mask till i read comic books about him, but now that I did, I can see him there, even if he wont be a main villain, although it would be perfect. And true, not many people know about Black mask, but its ok, Because if the protrayl is done corectly by Nolan, and ofcourswe it would be, the casual movie gooer would go

Hey I thought of it LOL. But yah I'd love to see the guy as a maybe a side villain role with two face in it probaly. The guy def is a realistic villain for the films. Plus he's one of my favorite Batman villains.

I mean this with all respect to fans of the Black Mask: What's the appeal? What makes him interesting? Was "Under the Hood" a poor example of his character?

He plays a pretty big part in the war games saga.

Honestly I hate Black Mask, mostly because of his comic look though. The skull mask/face cliche' bothers me to no end.

"Hey I have this character whose kinda weak, how should we make him cool?"
"Give 'em a skull for a head".

For me the Red Skull will be the definitive "skull for face" villain, and really there don't need to be many more than that. It's just redundant.

Rakumon, I do enjoy your idea, it just doesn't sound like a Black Mask thing really. Agree totally about bringing in Leslie Thompkins somehow though!

I myself would go with Black Mask as a Mob boss though. It would go well with the whole Mob vs Freaks concept used in TDK. But with a twist in that he's a hybrid of the 2.
