Activision Blizzard's Overwatch shared(more games beside TF2 style) game univers

Haha. I reckon it is one I could get addicted to too.

I love this new PvE stuff. They need to make it permanent. I've actually found the normal difficulty a great way to practice characters I rarely play.

I like that it's an event based on in game lore. That said they need to cough up more currency for duplicate unlocks. I had four loot boxes and only got two new unlocks. What characters do you all play most?

The hard difficulty is a ***** though. If you don't have a good Tracer, it's impossible.

Fans may eventually see seasonal event modes as part of everyday Overwatch.

The unique seasonal event game modes of Overwatch may someday be part of the shooter’s regular Arcade options.
In a recent post to the Overwatch forums (via PvP Live), game director Jeff Kaplan discussed two of the goals the developer had when implementing the new Uprising game mode.
“One was to allow ‘All Heroes’ to play the event. It might not seem hard but there were a lot of edge case/bug fixes for us to handle,” Kaplan wrote. “The other goal was to put Uprising into Custom Game during the event. There were enough challenges technically with doing this that we ended up not achieving this goal.”
While these specialty game modes tend to disappear once an event ends, Kaplan teased that some could eventually make it back into Overwatch‘s normal Custom Game selection, just not anytime soon.
“We might someday make Seasonal Events available when the events are not running, but for now, it’s not a priority due to the technical challenge. We also do like keeping the events rare and special… (I know people hate when I say that…)”
In other Overwatch news, more changes are coming to how the game handles tiebreakers in its Competitive Play mode.

I got this game a week ago and I've been obsessed with it. I don't know what took me so long.

Yup my fave game right now it's pretty much all I play and I usually hate first person games.

I also usually hate first person shooters too, but right now I'm actually not playing Breath of the Wild because I'm playing OW so much. And I'm a huge Zelda fan lol

The Officer skin for D.Va, though... Hnnngn.

Lol, trust I know. I think what gets me is whenever I feel like I might finally start getting bored of the game a new event, character, or challenge is made and I'm drawn back in. Who's your fave character?

Right now I'm so caught up in learning all the characters I think are cool that I definitely can't see myself getting bored any time soon. My favourite is Symmetra, but I also love Sombra, Orisa, and D. Va. And I learned a lot about the game by playing Mercy so I like her too.

Now I want to practice with Pharah, Widowmaker, and Mei. How about yourself?

Sombra is probably my fave with Symmetra and Solider 76 not far behind. Pharah is a character I really like too and Mercy is my go to if the team needs a healer. I do pretty good at some others too but those are my mains. Have you seen the short films they've done? I really would like a full length animated film from them.

Edit: I forgot to add Tracer who I'm pretty good at annoying/distracting people with.

Yes, I have seen them! They're incredible and really feel like Pixar level quality. I've been really interested in Widowmaker after seeing the video that focused on her (but I'm really bad at her). A full length animated film is on my mind too!

Tracer is super likeable and fun. I'm generally less good in an offensive role though.

Widowmakers short with Tracer is awesome. Every now and then I play as Widowmaker and I get some good shots in I just don't have enough patience to be a really good sniper, but I've seen some that have truly mastered her.

Love it. Reminds me of ED-209 from Robocop. Totally worth slaving through Heroes of the Storm for.

Hey, Heroes of the Storm is a great game as well.

Btw, I own Overwatch but HOTS has been preoccupying my free time.

They really need to get a handle on all these duplicates that every loot box delivers after a certain point, probably my only real complaint.

Overwatch launches several pricey art books this October

May 15, 2017 9 comments

It’s apparently not official yet as Blizzard hasn’t sent out a press blurby, but Overwatch is getting a pair of massive art books this coming October 24th.
According to the entries on Amazon, the $49.99 hardcover is the “essential companion” to the game, with intros and dev behind-the-scenes info from Blizz, plus “never-before-seen artwork.”
The real meat’s in the $100 deluxe limited edition book, which “comes packaged in a beautiful clamshell box with magnetic closure and includes an acetate slipcover featuring the game’s most popular hero, Tracer.” Expect “two portfolios containing a total of three prints chosen by the Overwatch team” too.

And for comic lovers, the Dark Horse Overwatch comic anthology is due out on October 10th.

I have a guildie who buys art books for video games the way Justin buys MMO soundtracks, if ya know what I mean. Do you guys splurge on art books for games?
