Blob in space is the biggest thing in the universe

I hate blobs.

Ever since the movies I've had this ghastly fear of Jello.

But this blob is 200 million light years wide so because for mess of galaxies and gas.

Whoopie Doo. :(

I thought this was going to be about The Blob. High budget sequel or something. :down

the universe is big. i mean really big. you think walking to the shops is far, but it's nothing compared to the universe.

*thanks doug adams for being paraphraseable*

ZING!

:(

i think it is a space amoeba. we are but amoebas to it.

I'd seen this already but it is fascinating and leads to some interesting ideas about how energy and mass interacted as the Universe cooled and expanded.

the big bang is bullcrap. it's a myth.......... like south dakota.

The whole thing is indeed new,i dont understand. What is it?A blob,or some sort of gas object?

What is sort of scary is that the report said 'this is the largest known object in the universe.'

So how do you explain the background microwave radiation and how it's intensity can be traced to an area where it is calculated the galaxies are moving away from?

It's simple really Lyman Alpha blobs are radio quiet gas clouds that are red shifted (light coming from them is moved to the lower energy end of the spectrum low frequency/ high wavelength) and surround proto galaxies. Probably due to stretched space rather than an object moving away. This stretched space is due to the mass of the objects concerned.
