Blockbuster to close 960 stores

The one in my town closed about a month ago. It started as a local business then got bought out by Blockbuster. I went to them for like 15 years so even after I got Netflix and GameFly I still went there when I could to give some money. Not all Blockbusters are bad.

I only used Blockbuster to rent games. Now, I'll probably switch to Gamfefly like I did with Netflix.

I could probably get a job working as the President's advisor sooner than getting a call back from Blockbuster. I've applied there twice and to no avail , not sure what i did wrong.

burn them all to the ground and do something else to get rid of the ash

worst place in the world to work and i hope they all fall to the ground

I worked there for about 3 years and had no issues, but they didn't want to take OnDemand or mail seriously until it was too late

I went into this one near my job and picked up Hostel without a case for like $3.

Blockbuster sucked ASS to work in. I hope Best Buy and Netflix/Gamefly b00t their asses.

worked there for a couple years...zero issues...each store is different though

After the Blockbuster store closest to my house closed for good several years ago, I stopped going there altogether. I never really like BB anyway, since their DVDs are still expensive and it's a b***h to return them in time, and they don't have that many interesting selection of movies anyway, esp. with their policy of having only "family friendly" movies. Now I have Netflix, which not only has no late fees and you can keep them as long as you want, but they are convenient and have an amazing library of movies, even weird foreign films. I'm not too surprised about BB's decline; I think it's a result of not taking your competition seriously, and right now both Netflix and Redbox are beating them at their own game.

total ********....I wasn't aware that renting Last House on the Left, Killer Clowns from Outer Space, Mysterious Skin, and The Fluffer were family friendly movies

Maybe he means family friendly as not having Adult movies?

how many conventional video stores still carry porn these days?? why bother when you have Ralphs Mega Adult Video Emporium down the street?? at least thats how it is where I'm at....there is a Blockbuster in a town called Milford and a quarter mile down the road are two big adult video/book places

The 2 adult stores I've been to in NJ really carry just vanilla stuff. They don't compare to the stuff in the City.

You carry what sells...if there isn't a lot of call for Korean Donkey Fart Fetish porn, then why carry it?? so that one super weirdo can get his copy every month?? not making any money on that

I'm talking about weird, extreme foreign films that really pushed the envelope. Netflix doesn't carry adult films either, but they do have those films that can be considered too unconventional by Blockbuster's standards.

the one I worked at carried stuff like The Audition, the original Ringu films, some of the random European horror films....it just depends on the store, I guess

There was some movie called Pervert that was on Netflix which was the equivalent of those Skinemax/Showtime softcore flicks.

My blockbuster closed down 2 years ago. The selection there sucked.

Not very surprising news, Netflix has to have been hurting them for years and now with Redbox gaining in popularity it's got to hurt even more, why go to another store when you can rent a movie on your way out of the supermarket. Add to that OnDemand, iTunes and just illegal downloads, there's way too many easier alternate methods. I actually did go to blockbuster earlier this year though, rented a movie with my ex-girlfriend, was really surprised I still (a) had a card and (b) it actually worked. I can't remember the last time before that I went to Blockbuster though.

Netflix sucks. Yes, I like it, but you gotta have a credit card or debit to use it. Parents have Netflix, but also go to 1st Run Video and Blockbuster at times.

I hope the one by me stay open, it seems to do good business still.

what are you gonna do? write Netflix a check?

I use hollywood video anyway
