Blockbuster vs. Netflix! Round one! DING!

Personally, while I don't like Blockbuster in the least, I feel they're in the right on this one. Monopolizing online movie rentals IS like trying to monopolize selling fast-food through a drive-through window.

I'll stick with Netflix. After 6 years they have yet to do me wrong. Blockbuster is just pissy because they are struggling with their pitiful online rentals.

I'm partial to Blockbuster, I've issues with them once but now I just don't care. They've been consistent so far.

I suppose it depends on whether the patents pertain to the software, or the distribution. If netflix does something special with it's software then I believe it has every right to enforce a patent. But if it's simply complaining that Blockbuster is doing online rentals then I think netflix should loose.

Either way I'm sticking with netflix they've treated me well thus far. I stopped using blockbuster back when all they had were stores because of all the problems I had with them.

You don't have to believe it, but that doesn't make it any less true. They have been around that long.

i love my netflix. main reason why is i can rent tv shows on dvd... can you do that threw blockbuster, i dont know.

I think they really didn't start advertising much until 2001-2002. Before that, they had a campaign that promoted them when you bought a DVD player (it came with a trial for Netflix). That's how I got started (also in 2000), but until I got the DVD player, I'd never heard of them, and I remember it was a year or two after that before I ever saw any tv ads for them.
