Has there been any updates on this?

I know Warner Brothers wanted to cast an already established comedy duo for box office reasons (Like Franco/Rogen or Will Ferrell/John C Riley).

I would love to see Ted Kord on screen, I'm a sucker for gadgets (Mission Impossible, James Bond etc) and I feel a superhero that is 100% gadget based would be really fun!

Just got a casting idea for a Blue/Gold movie (as unlikely as it would be):

Edgar Wright directs Simon Pegg as Booster Gold and Nick Frost as Blue Beetle!!

(Remember Ted Kord had a period in the comics where he struggled w/ weight issues)

Jaime is a better character but including him basically ruins the Booster/Blue dynamic. Let's be honest here. Blue Beetle is a better character on his own when it's Jaime. And if it's Ted, Booster HAS to be there.

Plus, Jaime is on the Titans while Booster interacts more with the League.

There was a moment where Jamie Blue Beetle was so popular, I really thought if DC played their cards right he could have been their equivalent of Marvel's spider man.

Then he just kind of disappeared which is too bad because he is such a cool character. DC kinda dropped the ball on that. Same with Static Shock I felt he could have been a huge character for them if they'd done more.

Jaime is the Blue Beetle I'm most interested in so if he isn't included in the DCEU and they go with the Ted (or the Dan version) I'll be extremely disappointed.

I get that Booster Gold/Ted Kord are a thing in the comics but I just think Jaime has a cooler look, much better power set and is a more interesting character than both. To be honest I don't see this movie happening any time soon, especially with all the movies DC currently has lined up.

Not something they'd ever do, but here's an idea: a Blue Beetle movie that is about the legacy element of the character. So you have Jaime, Ted, and hell, even Dan Garrett show up. You could even have them meet, by way of Booster Gold and time travel.

Adam Brody as Ted Kord/Blue Beetle
Nathan Fillion as Michael Jon Carter/Booster Gold

I agree Jaime is the cooler blue beetle. But I must disagree and hope they could actually do a movie where the mantle is passed for a three part trilogy. People who don't know the mythology would be surprised and I feel I would actually help Jaime be a better character.

If it's an increasingly annoyed Booster Gold, take my money.

It's time to revive this thread, bc I think that a Blue Beetle / Booster Gold movie could work beautifully. I, for one, am a huge fan of the Ted Kord and when you have a buddy movie opposite Booster Gold, he has to be the one donning the Blue Beetle mantle. There's no way around that. And it would also make sense, business-wise, to start with him. Let's say you have a Blue Beetle/Booster Gold trilogy and they call it a day after that, it'd be smart to introduce Jaime Reyes and have him take up the mantle of Blue Beetle persona. It would make sense and be organic.

Anyway, I've seen lots of chatter regarding the casting of the duo, but who would you like to see direct a possible movie? Here's my directors shortlist:

Shane Black: The master of the buddy movie, and I trust him sping that around for a superhero movie and deliver a fresh and exciting movie.
Edgar Wright: "Ant-Man" didin't work out for him, unfortunately, so it would be great to have this be his second chance at a superhero flick.
Michel Gondry: I liked "The Green Hornet", but it seems like they didn't have the opportunity to make the movie they envisioned, due to studio meddling. And Gondry could bring something very special and unique for the genre.
Adam Wingard: "The Guest". 'nuff said.
David Gordon Green: He's a Jack of all Trades, has done it all, and it would be interesting to see him play with a big budget comic book adaptation. He's definitely got the buddy element down ("Pineapple Express").

Let's show some love for the Blue & Gold!

According to those in the know, Reyes is the Blue Beetle on WB's radar. So I don't think we'll be getting a Booster Gold/Ted Kord film anytime in the near future. I'm guessing WB wants the added publicity of making the first Latino led superhero film, plus Reyes is easier to adapt because he has a stronger mythology than his predecessors.

If they're doing a Blue/Gold teamup, you use Kord, if you're doing a solo Blue Beetle, you use Reyes.

I have to say, Reyes is the better character 100%

Should’ve made a Blue & Gold movie with Paul Rudd as Ted Kord and Sean William Scott as a Booster Gold when they had the chance.

Don't agree on Jaime Reyes being the better character, I think they're both great. And I hope they won't forget Ted on the big screen only to boast about minorities or make Geoff Johns happy. The 1980/90s era of DC Comics is a goldmine of great characters and storytelling, and I truly hope they won't ignore that era. Embrace everything, not just the current stuff.
