Greg Berlanti directing Booster Gold?

Exactly and Armie Hammer realistically would be the best choice for Booster Gold not only because he can act but also because he just looks so much like the comic book Booster Gold so why not cast him in the role? Besides he and Cavill were in a movie together The Man from U.N.C.L.E. so I think they would be able to play well off of each other

A guy I would like is Zac Efron, I find him hilarious in Neighbors..

Zac Efron as Booster Gold...I could see Zac Efron as Dick Grayson/Nightwing actually

Greg Berlanti’s ‘Booster Gold’ exists outside of the DC Extended Universe:

Earlier this year, it was revealed that DC TV master Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl) was working with Warner Bros. Pictures on a Booster Gold film that would tell the story of the time traveling Michael Jon Carter. Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class, Thor) who wrote an episode of The Flash in Season 2 and is now working as an consulting producer on the series, is writing the screenplay for the film which we learned back in May.

It has been pretty quiet on that project since then, until today as Berlanti revealed some very surprising details about Booster Gold when speaking with Vulture. While it was assumed that Booster Gold would be in the DC Extended Universe, it turns out that that isn’t the case at all.

“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It’d be a separate thing.”

In the interview, he also revealed that the project came about after Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg’s Booster Gold TV project “never got off the ground” on SyFy, as they got in discussions with DC Films president Geoff Johns. In an earlier interview, Berlanti expressed interest to possibly direct the film too.

“I’m attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.] now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property. Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he’s writing the script now. I’d probably direct that, or I would want to.”

Yeah, I don't understand this. Sure, he says 'As of right now,' but in an age where the comic book films are all about connectivity and DC in particular is in need of a dosage of something light, why not have it connect? Having it be a standalone wouldn't necessarily be confusing, but I'm sure people would wonder if Booster Gold would connect to the greater DCEU. And if not, then why not?

It'll be connected but seperate, to give the creative folks a measure of autonomy. Kind of like Shazam! will be part of the DCEU (cameos, easter eggs), but won't crossover. That might change if there is a huge demand for it, but for now the people behind it want it to be it's own thing.

I think Berlanti should get at shot at this project just because he's very passionate about this particular character. This could end up being a Deadpool situation where the people behind it put all their faith into it and made a damn good movie.

Good point.

I think the key word here is 'as of right now'. All the DC Comics movies coming out in the near future would hafta be connected someway to the wider DCEU unless it's a Vertigo adaptation. I really don't know how the discontinuity will work for this movie. I mean if Deadpool is connected to the main X-Universe, I don't see why this movie wouldn't be connected to the DCEU.

Well, let's see where WB and the makers are actually going this one.

WB isn't going to let this fly without them adding some sort of Easter Eggs letting viewers know that it takes place in the same Universe. Despite reception, the DCEU is currently WB's cash cow

Maybe Berlanti could find a way to tease us with glimpses of CW-verse in the movie ? After all, Booster Gold is about time travel and multiverse.

If the Booster Gold movie is separate from the rest of DCEU, might as well throw a few nods to existence of CW-verse that is not a part of the movie but still exists in some parallel-universe.

Now I could see that. Especially given Berlanti's hand in the DCCW. Seriously, it'd be a missed opportunity to not tie this into either of the DC Universes. I think, anyway. Maybe a standalone would give the folks working on the film more autonomy.

Hmm... so possibly a film that doesn't connect or will have to connect at some point like Suicide Squad.

I think the idea of existing superheroes does belong in the background of a Booster world, what with him being a time traveller than comes to this era to bask on superhero glory. There's nada in the current DCEU that I think is imperative to see present in a Booster film, but you don't need to be specific about events in continuity. Just mentioning Superman or Batman would give you an idea of what he wants to live up to in terms of recognition.

i have no problem with this decision how about we worry about getting the A list heroes right and off the ground first like WW,batman, aquaman and the flash

thats like worrying why squirrel girl might not be in the mcu back in 2009

The funny thing is that Booster is based in Metropolis and Gotham and he works in a Museum filled with DC heroes and villains. Don't know how is that is going to work when you take out his Origin

Yeah, some of the best early Booster Gold stories involved Lex and Superman.

seems like a dumb idea to not tie this to the DCEU

That makes no sense.

That makes no sense.

How doesn't it make sense? It's part of the larger universe, but it operates in it's own corner of said universe.

By that logic the Marvel/Netflix shows being part of the larger MCU doesn't make sense either.

The movie's writer favorited a tweet guessing that Booster Gold would be to the DCEU what Guardians of the Galaxy is to the MCU. Which is to say it'll probably technically be related to the larger universe, they just won't be exploiting the connection six ways from Sunday.

Greg Berlanti? Was he involved in Ryan Reynold Green Lantern movie? Ugh.

I'm thinking the same, the upcoming Doctor Strange is part of the MCU but is not going to follow on from the events of Civil War so I guess both Booster Gold and Shazam won't reference the events of past films but will be part of the DCEU.

Wasn't this movie supposed to feature Blue Beetle as well? I want Jaime on the big screen DC!!!

Anyway I thinks its a part of the DCEU but it doesn't add to the story they're building up to, hense it being separate, if that makes sense.

That's in direct contrast to what Berlanti is saying here:

“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It’d be a separate thing.”
