Superman Returns BO numbers aside... Is there just too much negativity in terms of WOM?

I can becasuse to compare it to ther Superhero films who only debuted in regular theaters. Also, Disney said that the 3d anolmoly is a big money maker just for the 3D. IN meet the Robinson's. they had theaters that the movie played with both 3D versions and 2D versions, the #D versions outsold the 2D versions just because of the 3D. It is a fad and when comparing to other films who didn't have IMAX or 3D, then you have to compare the regular 2d Theater take. And, if there was no IMAX or 3D SR, then what it took in the regular theater is what it would have made in the regular theater.

Awful, stupid post.

I saw Superman Returns twice, both times in 3D Imax. Should box office money from people like me not count?

To be fair, there is a certain novelty factor with anything released in IMAX...in that there are a lot of people who are seeing the movie because it's IMAX and Superman, not just because it's Superman. If there were no IMAX showings, would those same people still see it in a regular theater? Maybe...but in a sense of # of viewers per theater...maybe not. Is there a way to compare the IMAX BO-take per screening for SR compared to other movies that played in IMAX? I heard Monster House didn't do very well.

Haha?

Superman is somewhere else where pedestrian lists that prove nothing but to be the wrong and ignorant way to qualify a movie have no room.

But the thing tha SR had that Monster House didn't was that SR was the first IMAX hollywood movie with parts in 3D. So that was another thing that had people going to see it there too.

Buggs your logic is stupifying me. Should we discount box office gains over holiday weekends as well because it is unfair to the other movies who don't get to enjoy said weekends?

No. But the IMAX version has something other versions didnt have the benefit off. It was in IMAX, and it was in 3D. That makes it a novelty, and I am comparing regular 2D theater takes as that is what the other movies have. Also, Disney stated that, even in the same theaters where Meet the Robinson's was showing in both 2D and 3D versions, the 3D was outselling the 2D, as they said "based on the novelty of 3D". So therefore I am sure if SR had not had an IMAX 3D version, it would have made maybe 5 or 10 million more, but that is it. IMAX is what got it to 200 mill. The first 3D IMAX movie was enough to get people into the theaters to see it.

Batman Begins was in IMAX, but didn't have 3D.

in short, with the help of 3D effect in the imax theater, what SR did is just pathetic.

and it was the movie the people have been waiting for 20 years, damnit!!!
