Bohemian Rhapsody

Looking at Singer's recent MIA bits on Superman Returns and X-Men Apocalypse, why wasn't he fired before? Let's assume that it wasn't the allegations resurfacing (not ruling it out) but something else entirely.

I suppose Singer's BTS crew (Sigel and Ottman) will be sayonara as well.

Back in the Superman Returns days, I don't remember anything about him missing days on the set, but I do remember reports about hard partying and loss of interest. I have no idea if those were true though.

That's the next shoe to drop on this.

I remember something about his limo driver supplying him with pills and him going MIA during X2 (and fighting with Halle Berry?), but I've never seen anything about SR or X:A before this recent stuff.

The sad thing about Singer is he's made some of my favorite films. I loved the first X-Men, X2, The Usual Suspects, Apt Pupil, Valkyrie, and Days of Future Past. So on hand I am disappointed to see such a talented director essentially throw his career away, however, given the rumors about his behavior I can't say that I am all sympathetic towards him either.

Singer is kind of a mixed bag, IMO. He’s made great stuff like The Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil, and then he’s made crap like that Jack and the Beanstalk movie and Superman Returns. The good probably outweighs the bad in terms of his resume but if he’s really this unprofessional on set than he deserves to be fired. And if the accusations about him are true... he deserves to be in prison.

I wonder if this film will get any major reshoots or not. If it gets major reshoots, whoever the new director may get full director credit. If the new director only needs to finish up 2 weeks and nothing more, Singer gets all the credit.

That's probably going to depend on whether or not the other shoe drops. If it doesn't, there probably isn't a problem keeping his name on the picture. If it does, his name becomes box office poison.

Besides Usual Suspects, which is undeniably amazing, has his directing career really been that great? X-men movies are hit or miss, Valkyrie was passable, and Jack and the Beanstalk was a bomb. Nothing since Suspects has been as good.

X1 - hit
X2 - hit
DOFP - hit
Apocalypse - miss

So, technically, yeah that's hit or miss, but...

Singer's longtime publicist no longer represents him according to the Washington Post.

Bryan Singer's Fox Offices Shut Down

Singer had a three-year first-look deal with the studio that concluded at the end of October. The deal was not renewed, but he was granted an extension allowing Bad Hat Harry to remain in the offices for the duration of the Rhapsody shoot.

However, that changed on Monday when Fox decided to terminate Singer's involvement in the film.

Whatever happens(or doesn't) in terms of revelations, it's over with Fox and the X-Men forever.

I assumed he'd never be coming back to X-Men regardless.

For directing, sure but he was still producing. Now that includes any producing or any work on "The Gifted".

And that is why where his thumbprint isn't, we have seen the best X-Men.

Back in the day, Fox (Tom Rothman) kicked him off the lot as well when he decided to make Superman Returns....

As a fan his work it's sad to see this unfold.Maybe something as drastic and humiliating as this is the wakeup call he needs.:(

If there aren't any more damaging revelations in the coming months i think his career can bounce back from this. He may have to go back to his independent roots to achieve it but i think it's possible.

Like that he potentially gets young people hopped up on drugs and sexually assaults them?

Been reading up on the whole thing this morning. Some of the accounts people give of various occasions involving Singer are [if true] very shocking and [again, if true] yet again we have examples here where people were aware that these things were going on and yet said nothing.

Something's fishy. Things don't add up.
It certainly doesn't.

If I wake up one morning to a phone call that a loved one has fallen seriously ill, you better believe my first call is to my boss explaining the situation and that I cannot come into work that day.

It's your job. You can't just "no-show" for days on end without a word of explanation, and then start throwing out excuses after you've been canned. That's high school behavior. There is absolutely no reason Singer couldn't have called one of the producers to let them know what was going on, especially if it was a parent.

Bad Hat Harry produces both Legion and The Gifted don't it?
