Bonds only 4 Home Runs away from Ruth

Since we know that steroids were a problem from the mid-nineties, it's a good place to start and would get the clear majority of all records that were achieved through drug use.

Yes, since we know there unsolved murders between 1990 and 2000 we should kill all inmates for these murders.

I'm just looking out for the game. Impressions matter, often moreso, than reality. If most people are convinced that records are being broken because of drugs, it will turn them off.

I know many people myself who don't care who gets the pennant and that's not good for the game.

ruth is still the home run king.

Ruth has had a considerable amount of less at bats than bonds and aaron.

Something I think people should bring up more often. :o

The real home run king is Ted Williams. He served in the military for 5 years during the prime of his playing days. Based on the time he played, he had the best record.

Really the real home run king is Josh Gibson a.k.a The Black Babe Ruth who was said to have hit more home runs then Babe ever did. The problem was they didn't keep the records of the Negro League.

Was it because they couldn't read or write?

Thats not funny (be it that I am a black male).:mad::mad::down And the reason why they didn't keep records was not because of them. You tell me how many people can hit 84 home runs in one season.

I'm sorry, but when you don't provide filler I have to read between the lines, so that joke was your fault and you should apologize.

There were some pretty good players in the black league and it's a good thing that sad time period in American history is over.

Youre so full of ****.

If baseball decides to wipe all records from the so-called "steroids-era", then they should wipe out all the records before 1947.

I'd be fine if they simply started over.

War Lord I have just lost a lot of respect for you. :(

You had respect for me?

and a lot of it?

How was that possible?

With regard to Bonds, as long as he doesn't break any records when he faces my Cubs, I don't care

If you think MLB should wipe away records for steroid users , Do agree with wiping away Gaylord Perry's records?

Do we really want a guy by the name of Gaylord to have any kind of record whatsover, outside of knitting?

Shortly Bonds name will forever appear like this in the record books:

Barry Bonds*

And if he gets in I'm thinking they may want to relax some things with Pete Rose

I'm a body builder. I know precisely what steroids does and how. I've seen plenty of guys on it, who achieved great results that left the rest of us 'natural' builders in the dust. But it's cheating, plain and simple. While steroids do still require muscle use in order to build, you do not have to work out as hard, and you certainly cannot achieve the same results in muscle growth WITHOUT steroids, period. Don't sit here and claim otherwise. There's a reason why people use steroids. It's for the immediate gratification of building mass WITHOUT all of the time-consuming effort and pain.

And no one is trying to say it gives him better balance or perspective in order to hit the ball. That's the TALENT that got him into the major leagues in the first place. There's no need to enhance that. But smacking the ball hard enough consistently requires POWER - not talent. And that POWER is precisely what he forged through the use of ILLEGAL drugs. And that power, derived from the illegal use of muscle enhancing drugs, is what put him in the record books.

I can't believe you're defending it.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with Lazur. Has hell frozen over?

Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame.

Agreed, what Rose did took nothing away from how he played and what he did for the game. Bonds on the other hand...

If they give Bonds this record and don't allow Rose in the hall of fame in his life time (because you know they will add him once he is dead)...then it will be perhaps the greatest injustice in the history of sports.
