In the spirit of the "Games that deserve film adaptions" thread, what books do you think would make great movies?

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.

The Dark Tower books by Stephen King

Oh, and I'd like to see Anthem made into a movie as well as Marvels.

I can think of more, but they are of the "Deserves a good film adaptation" (Starship Troopers, Dirk Pitt Novels) persuasion.

But anyway:
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft
The Shadow Out of Time by H.P. Lovecraft
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (I'm sure there have been adaptations, like TV movies or something, but no major effort)
Darwinia by Robert Charles Wilson

"The Rising" by Brian Keene would be good for film.

Kingdom Come, maybe with a Bruce Timm/Alex Ross hybrid animation.

The King Must Die, bull leaping would look cool on screen.

A Wizard of Earthsea, There was a Sci-Fi channel film, but that version sucked and completely ruined what the books were about. They combined the first two books and some other crap they pulled out there ass and made a lackluster mini-series.

The Wizard of Oz, it need a faithful adaptation.

Native Son.
Cry, Beloved Country.
Oxherding Tale
Catcher in the Rye (a good solid adaptation)
All the Kings Men (being made)
Emmette Till (the Story of--it is a book, you'd base it off the actual event and trail though)

Just about anything by the novelist duo of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, with such great novels (in my humble opinion) under their belt as "The Relic," "The Ice Limit," "The Cabinet of Curiosities," and many of the other ones that follow. Yes, I realize they tried to make a "Relic" movie, but it wasn't at all worthy of being affiliated with the book it claimed to be based off of. Make these movies LIKE THE BOOKS THEY COME FROM, and you've got cinematic gold. Agent Pendergast is one of the more interesting modern characters I've ever encountered in reading.

At The Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft, but it must be done by Guillermo del Toro.

That is on my top ten list of most overrated, crappy books in existence.

I think an amusing little movie could be made from a little known book by the name of Villains By Necessity. Syn: In a world of goody two shoes a small band(including a thief, a black knight, a druid, and a sorceress) must step up to bring back the balance.

Some Ayn Rand flicks.

I'd also like to see a solid effiort at Brave New World.

The Thomas Covenant Chronicles by Stephan R. Donaldson

Some of the Xanth books would be cool

The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony

High-Rise, by J.G. Ballard.

I'll also like to see another go at Nineteen Eighty-Four --- the 1984 version came sooo close to hitting the mark, but then at the last second just barely missed it when it came to the dynamic visual contrasts and the nightmarish-feel the torture scenes in the book had.

An Alice in Wonderland movie that's actually based on Lewis Carroll's book, and NOT some crappy gore-filled game.
