Games that deserve film adaptations.

I read that Metal Gear Solid has a script already made, with Kojima in on it. So, that's good news.

Oh, ane Bowl won't direct. Thank God.

Steven Strait would make a great Prince of Persia, but even though he was good in Sky High, I don't think his acting chops are up for it. He's got that Persian look without looking 'too' ethnic.

This thread is simple just list which games deserve to be adapted to film(as long as Uwe Boll and Paul Anderson stay away of course).

The Legend of Zelda
The Shadow of the Colossus
Kingdom Hearts (CGI)
Freelancer
Final Fantasy (Live Action with the Style of the first games)
Metal Gear(As long as Kojima Directs)
Prince of Persia
Beyond Good and Evil (Use the story of the first game in the first film, then expand upon it in the sequel film).
Metroid
Splinter Cell

I like the ones in bold.

I'd like to see a Final Fantasy film directed by James Cameron.

I'd also like to see Medal Gear Solid brought to the Silver Screen w/ Steven Spielberg directing it.

I wouldn't mind seeing Halo (I know it's already coming, but the script I read was, well:down :() w/ 'Alfonso Cuaron' at the helm. His Potter flick was well received by fans, so he proved that he can adapt source material. I'd like to see him try it w/ Halo (which is a game, but also has books).

My final is probably wishing that George Lucas would allow Scorcese to direct 'Knights of the Old Republic'.

That game literally has a better storyline than any other SW game, any of the SW movies, and 95 percent of the RPG's out there.

Of course, Scorcese would probably never agree to do it, but if he did, he'd capture more of a conceptual story for the film. (I'd also want Spielberg guest directing for the action sequences.)

He'd make it about Snake landing on D-Day.

Ecco (animated)
Zelda (live-action)
FF (live-action)
Metriod Prime (live-action)
Starfox (animated)
Turok (live-action)
Mega Man (live-action or animated)
Splinter Cell (live- action)

Metal Gear Solid- James Cameron
Grand theft Auto- Not sure but some one expericanced with the crime genre

Who should play Max Payne?

An unknown, because I hate casting threads when unknowns do just as well overall.

Turok (live-action)

Also a comic first.

The first Tomb Raider and Mortal Kombat were solid attempts at fun movies that actually did fairly well. Silent Hill is probably the most serious attempt at an adaption, making it a "love it or hate it" movie.

Zelda would be great as a "coming of age" story, but difficult to pull off.

Max Payne would be interesting since it's inspired by action movies and film noir.

RESIDENT EVIL 2 and 4. With Leon in all his glory.

But....who'd we get?hmmmmmm

Oh God! If a white person is set to be the Prince all hope is lost. He is Persian so find a persian actor, or atleast half persian. What about John Abraham? He's half indian half perisna and he is a good actor. Speaks english with an english accent/persian/indian accent. I think it would work

Not a bad choice actually, not bad at all in fact.

Another Game I forgot to mention was Z.O.E.
It would be so awesome to see big CGI robots battling it out in a Space Station.
and Speaking of Robots.
Xenosaga would be a great space opera epic.

not bad look-wise. definitely better than Naveen Andrews.

but this whole "he is persian so find a persian actor" thing is bulls#!t if you ask me. if the guy can pass off as middle eastern, and resembles the Prince, then that's okay.

No games should be made into films.

It just does not work.

Games are action based. They are about interaction. Films are narrative based, they are about story.
I agree that movies and games are utterly diferent things, one is an active media, the other is passive.
One is about interaction, the other about perception.

But i don´t agree that you shouldn´t make movies based on video games, it all comes down about understanding how to adapt something like that.
More than ever, games are becaming more story driven, so, it´s totally possible to turn them into movies.
There are games that would make amazing movies...

I love Kingdom Hearts, but I don't think it'd ever work as a film. People would take one glance and judge the film for having Disney characters. And you can bet there'd be tons of comparisons to Final Fantasy.
